[01] Ozgurgun says the breakaway regime will open another three "representation offices" abroad

Ozgurgun was addressing the economy, finance, budget and planning "committee" of the "parliament", which adopted the "budget" of his "ministry" for 2013 that reached 35 million 450 thousand and 380 Turkish Liras.

Ozgurgun said that they faced a lot of problems while opening their "representation offices" in Berlin and Stockholm and that is why they behave warily and have not opened officially yet their "office" in Berlin. He noted that the building where their "office" in New York had been located has been demolished and that is why they included an item in the "budget" for moving the "office" into another building. He added that their "representation office" in London might also move to another building.

Ozgurgun noted that eleven vacant posts for diplomats should be filled up. He said that the opening of three new "representation offices" is on their agenda and that is why these vacant posts must definitely be filled up.

Ozgurgun said that some employees of the "ministry" work full time at the so-called president's office due to the negotiations aimed at finding a solution to the Cyprus problem. He argued that his "ministry" seriously influences the negotiations process, but its representatives do not attend the negotiating table, because the Greek Cypriots oppose to this.

Referring to the issue of natural gas and oil in Cyprus' exclusive economic zone, Ozgurgun argued that the Greek Cypriots rejected the Turkish Cypriot proposals even before these proposals were submitted at the table. Ozgurgun noted that they have sent letters to the companies which carry out explorations in the area around Cyprus and that they made the necessary interferences in time. Ozgurgun described as positive the approach of "third parties" towards the Turkish Cypriot proposals on the issue of Cyprus' natural gas and oil.

[02] Erdogan calls Israel a terrorist state; Obama slams Erdogan and Mursi over their criticism on Israel's attack to Gaza Strip

His comments came after nearly a week of Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel and Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip. An Israeli missile killed at least 11 Palestinian civilians including four children in Gaza on Sunday.

"Those who associate Islam with terrorism close their eyes in the face of mass killing of Muslims, turn their heads from the massacre of children in Gaza," Erdogan told a conference of the Eurasian Islamic Council in Istanbul.

"For this reason, I say that Israel is a terrorist state, and its acts are terrorist acts," he said.

Erdogan responds to Obama

"I find some leaders' approach quite interesting; they claim that Israel is exercising its self-defense correctly. What kind of justice is this?" Erdogan said today at the opening ceremony of the 8th Eurasian Islamic Council meeting.

Meanwhile, under the title: "Obama scold Erdogan" Turkish daily Milliyet (19.11.12-online version) reports on statements by the US President Barack Obama who in statements in a press conference in Thailand on the issue of the violence experienced in Gaza, expressed strong criticism and scolded Erdogan and the Egyptian President Muhammed Mursi who have criticized Israel's air strikes on the Gaza Strip. Obama said the following: "What I said to President Mursi and Prime Minister Erdogan is that those who defend the cause of the Palestinians, should recognize that if we see a further escalation of the situation in Gaza, then the likelihood of us getting back on any kind of peace track that leads to a two-state solution is going to be pushed off way into the future".

[03] CTP condemned Israel's attacks against Gazza

According to the paper, CTP's chairman Ozkan Yorgancioglu, issue a statement noting that the war must come to an end and calling the two sides to start negotiations for finding a solution to their problems.

[04] Cakici warns he will complain in Brussels about the regime's population policy

Addressing yesterday the economy, finance, and budget and planning "committee" of the "parliament", which was discussing the "budget" of the so-called interior ministry, Cakici noted that these numbers are "frightening" and pointed out that "a very serious crime is committed" on the issue of the "citizenship", which he described as a "fiasco".

He argued: "The citizenship is haphazardly distributed aiming at interfering in the elections. The citizenship is arbitrarily distributed. This is tantamount to treason to your own country".

Responding to Cakici, the self-styled minister of interior, Nazim Cavusoglu claimed that they did nothing outside their so-called law on the issue of the "citizenship" and added that the numbers are transparent. He noted that all parties should meet and discuss arrangements, which will reduce the demand for their so-called citizenship.

Cakici interfered again and criticized the policy of the "government" on the issue of the population. "If you do not take measures, I will, honestly, take the plane, go to Brussels and complain about you saying that 'population is transferred here'".

[05] Population increase in occupied Cyprus led to more crimes and offenders

"Turkish Cypriot Public Service Workers" (KTAMS) organized a press conference stating that special attention must be paid to the problems of the "central prisons" workers. The chairman of KTAMS said that due to the uncontrolled increase of the population in the breakaway regime, crimes and offenders have been increased in occupied Cyprus. As he said the number of criminals is too big for the "prisons" to be taken and added that the personnel works under difficult conditions.

[06] Downer to meet with Eroglu today; statements by Osman Ertug

In addition, Downer is to hold separate meetings with the representatives of the two leaders and will attend a joint meeting with the two representatives and technical committees.

Speaking on Bayrak Haber this morning, Eroglu's "special representative" Osman Ertug said that the Downer's visit to the island was part of preparations to re-launch the Cyprus negotiations process following the Presidential elections in "south Cyprus", as he called the Republic of Cyprus.

He said that the UN Special Envoy would also be visiting the guarantor countries, Turkey, Greece and the UK following his contacts in Cyprus.

Underlining the need for the international community to motivate the Greek Cypriot side to work towards a solution, Ertug said that the international community could at least remove the unjust isolations imposed on the Turkish Cypriots if it fails to enforce its will on the Greek Cypriot side.

Also evaluating the latest developments concerning the issue of natural gas exploration off the coast of Cyprus, Ertug said that Eroglu's proposal on the subject, had received positive support from international circles.

Meanwhile, according to Turkish Cypriot daily Havadis (20.11.12) the UN Secretary General's Special Advisor to Cyprus Alexander Downer has met also with the former "special representative" of the Turkish Cypriot leader, Dervis Eroglu and chairman of the movement called "We are gathering", Dr. Kudret Ozersay.

As the paper writes, Downer who is visiting the island after a long period of time, has first carry out contacts with Ozersay with whom he discussed the steps to be taken in order for a solution to be found out to the Cyprus problem, after the Presidential elections to be held in the Republic of Cyprus.

[07] Protest in occupied Lefkosia municipality continues; calling by Eroglu to the so-called government to work for the ending of the strike

Commenting on the issue, the Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu said that he did not approve of the actions of the striking workers and called on the "government" to work towards ending the strike at the occupied Lefkosia municipality.

Eroglu also expressed the view that the problems could be solved through dialogue.

Also speaking to illegal Bayrak Haber, the "president" of the "Municipal workers' union" Savas Bozat said that the workers at the "municipality" had run out of patience and accused the "mayor" and the "municipal council" for the failure to solve the municipality's problems.

[08] So-called minister of health participated at the 5th International Health Tourism Congress in Turkey; he said that their only dream is the recognition of the occupation regime

Speaking at the 5th International Health Tourism Congress, Minister Akdag underlined that "with the free health zones, we will make Turkey more attractive as a country offering high quality and affordable health services. Turkey is among the most favorite countries in the world in health tourism. Prior to the Transformation Program in Health implemented 10 years ago, patients used to go to the United States or Europe for treatment. Now, Turkey is one of the top 10 favourite destinations in health tourism and it continues to go up in world rankings," Akdag noted.

"Around 200,000 people get medical treatment in Turkey per year. Political and economic stability has made Turkey an attraction center," Akdag added.

"Health services are offered in Turkey at high levels. Many medical treatment procedures in Turkey are done better and are more affordable than in other countries," Akdag stated.

Meanwhile, the "health minister" of the "TRNC" Ertugrul Hasipoglu who attended the congress, stressed that they wanted to succeed in health tourism as they did in tourism. "Today, we have been able to accomplish many of our dreams. Our only dream now is to get recognition from the whole world," Hasipoglu said.

[09] Cirali suggested the establishment of a "Turkish Cypriot Exporters' Union"

Cirali addressed the gala premiere night of the chamber last Saturday at Salamis Bay Conti Hotel, during which awards were given to Turkish Cypriot exporters. The former Turkish Cypriot leader, Mehmet Ali Talat, the self-styled ambassador of Turkey, Halil Ibrahim Akca and the so-called minister of finance, Ersin Tatar were among the participants in the ceremony.

In his address, Cirali said that the foreign trade deficit of the regime, which is 1.6 billion US dollars, could not be covered only with the income from the services' sector and added that they should increase production and exports so that the coverage ratio of exports and imports, which is currently around 6% to be increased to 20%.

Cirali noted that positive developments happened in the field of exports in 2012, in spite of the "embargoes" and the bureaucratic and other "irrational" obstacles they faced. He said that they exported goods such as furniture, plastic tubes, chicken meat, eggs, olive oil, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to Turkey, Britain, Japan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Kuwait, Belgium, the Netherlands and many other countries.

Cirali said that it is not possible for them to approach positively the purchase of goods by Turkish Cypriots in the government-controlled area of Cyprus and added that the interesting result of the surveys held on this issue, is that the Turkish Cypriots prefer buying imported goods from the government-controlled area. He argued that the main reasons for this are the monopoly in some trademarks, the services offered at the occupied ports and the quality of the services in the shops in the government-controlled area of the island.

[10] Former FIFA general secretary Champagne continues his meetings in occupied Cyprus in secretly

According to the paper, Champagne informed KTFF chairman Hasan Sertoglu about his actions and has scheduled to hold contacts and meetings with various persons in sport fields in occupied Cyprus.

In addition, commenting on the same issue, veteran sport journalist Necmi Belge from Turkish Cypriot daily Yeni Duzen newspaper (20.11.12), writes that Champagne avoids talking about his plans and actions and works intensively and secretly. Belge said that he met with Champagne but he escaped from answering his questions.

[11] "Turkish Cypriot Coaches Association" participated in the 33rd symposium of the Alliance of European Football Coaches Associations

According to the paper, the symposium is taking place in Croatia. More than 250 coaches for 54 countries are participating in the meeting, which will last for three days.

[12] A 2500-year-old statue was found out in excavations in western Turkey

According to an announcement from the Sabanci Foundation, the statue belonging to late Hellenistic era was found as part of the excavations in Metropolis Antique Site in Torbali town of Izmir.

Zerrin Koyunsagan of the foundation said that the statue was possibly depicting a female administrator of the antique site. TURKISH AFFAIRS SECTION
