[02] Denktash repeats threats for "reciprocal steps"

According to KIBRIS (6.1.97) Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash, in answer to President Clerides' press conference the other night, repeated his known views and allegations.

He claimed that President Clerides was not telling the truth as regards the air base currently under construction and declared that: "One should not forget that to every step taken by the Greek Cypriots, reciprocal steps will be taken".

As regards the Turkish settlers brought over to the occupied area with a view to changing the demographic structure of the island, Denktash alleged that in the occupied area there are no settlers but citizens. "Clerides should not occupy himself with this issue", he alleged. (MY)
