During the briefing, he also stated that the new EU Reform Package recently adopted by the Turkish Parliament "needs to be carefully analysed" and its practical implementation "closely monitored". [02] Spain establishes an embassy in CyprusThe fact that Cyprus will soon be a member of the EU is the main reason for the establishment of an embassy of Spain to Cyprus, the new Ambassador of Spain to Cyprus stationed in Beirut Mr Ignacio Garcia-Valdecasas Fernandez said yesterday, during his meeting with the Minister of Interior Dr Andreas Panayiotou.Mr Fernandez also said that the embassy officially begins its operation following the completion of Spain's EU Presidency, the Seville European Council Conclusions and Cyprus' closing of the negotiation chapters except those on Agriculture and Budget. For his part, Dr Panayiotou expressed his appreciation to the new Ambassador for his country's position on Cyprus' EU accession course and thanked him for the role Spain played during its EU presidency. Finally, Dr Panayiotou said that Spain fully supports a solution to the Cyprus problem but stresses that even without a settlement, the island will accede to the EU together with the other candidate countries as scheduled.
