[01] Germany welcomes UN resolutions on Cyprus
"The Federal Government of Germany staunchly supports all efforts aiming at
reaching a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem through a
reduction of armaments or through confidence-building measures."
In a statement issued on 25 December regarding UN resolutions 1217 and 1218
on Cyprus, German Foreign Minister Mr. Joschka Fischer welcomed their
adoption by the Security Council.Mr. Fischer pointed out that his country's
primary goal remains the reduction of tension in Cyprus and a just and
permanent solution to the Cyprus problem.
