[01] Duration of two exhibitions in Cyrpus and Belgium extendedThe Department of Antiquities announced on Thursday the extension of the duration of two exhibitions, one in Brussels and the other one in Cyprus.According to an official announcement "due to the great success of the exhibition "Ancient Cyprus: Cultures in Dialogue", organized at the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels on the occasion of Cyprus Presidency of the EU, the duration of the exhibition has been extended until March 10". A second announcement says that the Department of Antiquities "in response to the general public's interest, announces that the duration of the exhibition �anThrOPOS: Faces of Cyprus through the Ages� has been extended until 3/3/2013". [02] Cyprus removed from Russian Finance Ministry `black list`The Russian Ministry of Finance has removed Cyprus from its `black list`, according to a Cyprus Ministry of Finance press release.This move comes as a result of a Protocol signed on October 7, 2010 amending the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation of 1998 between the two countries. A Russian Ministry of Finance decree to that effect has come into force on January 1st this year. Cyprus' removal from the list reinforces the competiveness of its economy, in relation to investment from Russia but also in general. The decision enhances the Republic`s reputation as a reputable international business centre, the press release says. [03] Swoboda: Cyprus needs our support and should stay in the EurozoneCyprus needs our support and should stay in the Eurozone, Hannes Swoboda, President of S&D Group in the European Parliament has said.In a written statement in the light of discussions about the role of money laundering in Cyprus, Swoboda pointed out that "we have to return to serious discussions about Cyprus and whether there is money laundering in the country". "It is important to avoid a situation of making sweeping generalisations; any criticism must be based on specific facts", he underlined. He called on the EU Commission to monitor the situation closely, noting that "if there are definite signs that Cyprus was going beyond the required legislation and violating money-laundering rules, then changes have to be made".
