[01] EPP Summit to take place in Cyprus
An extraordinary European People's Party(EPP) Summit of EU leaders will be
hosted in Limassol, on the south coast of Cyprus, on 11 January 2013, by
the President of the Democratic Rally (DISY)of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades.
Speaking at a press conference, at the headquarters of the Democratic
Rally in Nicosia, Anastasiades said that the EPP is the largest political
force in Europe and the largest parliamentary Group in the European
Parliament. He noted that the Presidents of the European Council and
the European Commission, 15 EU heads of state and government, of the
European Union and 13 members of the European Commission belong to the
political family of EPP.
[02] Inflation increased in Cyprus in a monthly basis in December 2012
The rate of inflation for December 2012 increased to 1.5% compared to
1.4% in November 2012. However, in an annual basis, Cyprus' harmonized
inflation in December recorded a huge decrease compared to 4.2% in
December 2011, according to data released on Tuesday by the Statistical
Service of Cyprus.
The significant annual slowdown in December 2012 inflation was due to
a decrease in prices of goods or services included in the categories
of "Food and non-alcoholic beverages", "Clothing and footwear",
"Furnishings, household equipment and cleaning products," and "other
goods and services".
