[01] PARLIAMENT AID GREECEThe Plenary of the House of Representatives approved on Thursday the bill for the financial aid of 60,6 million Euro to Greece.The relevant bill was submitted on Thursday before the House Plenary, it was declared as urgent, and was examined by the Parliamentary Committee on Financial, and Budgetary Affairs at the presence of Finance Minister Charilaos Stavrakis and the Director General of the Ministry the same day. During the afternoon session of the Plenary, Stavrakis and Members of the House noted that the Cyprus financial aid to Greece may increase, if the final amount of the aid from the Eurozone changes. The leaders of the EU member states of the Eurozone decided on March 25, 2010, to take effective and coordinated measures to protect the financial stability of Eurozone, if needed. On the basis of that decision, the leaders decided that in the case the aid to Greece from the markets is inadequate, a coordinated support from all the members of the Eurozone, along with the International Monetary Fund, should be provided. [02] CYPRUS SHIPPING NEW TAXATIONThe approval of the new Shipping Taxation System by the Plenary of the House of Representatives marks the beginning of a new era for Cyprus Shipping, Cyprus Shipping Chamber (CSC) stressed.According to an announcement, issued by the CSC, following the official approval by the European Commission of the new, fully revised and upgraded Cyprus Shipping Taxation System, the big success of Cyprus Shipping has been completed with the approval of the relative Bill by the Plenary of the House of Representatives. This approval marks the beginning of a new era for Cyprus Shipping, which will cover in their most modern form the main Shipping activities that are offered today in International Shipping, namely Shipowning, Shipmanagement, Crew Management and the Chartering of vessels, rendering Cyprus as one of the most advanced maritime centres internationally, it is added in the announcement. [03] CYPRUS INTERNATIONAL FAIR 2010Cyprus 35th International State Fair opens its gates on May 7-16, featuring innovations such as the honoured country concept, a youth festival, as well as Cyprus` first beer festival.The state fair will be officially inaugurated by President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias on May 7, at the presence of state officials, diplomats, members of the Parliament as well as representatives of the productive classes. President of the Cyprus State Fairs Authority Loizos Constantinou told a press conference that the Fair which will exhibit all sectors of business activities, ranging from home appliances, machinery and tools to technology and services, attracted increased participation despite the global financial crisis. He added that so far the number of exhibitors reaches 150, compared with the previous year`s 109, which will be showcasing the products and services of more than 1,000 companies from Cyprus and 22 foreign countries. The official state participations are those of Greece, Bulgaria, USA, Spain, Italy, Malaysia, Palestine, Romania, Syria, while South Africa will have its own pavilion.
