The British government says it has fulfilled its financial commitments
to the Republic of Cyprus concerning the two sovereign military bases
it has retained in Cyprus since the island gained its independence from
British colonial rule in 1960.
Invited by CNA to comment a resolution adopted by the Cypriot House of
Representatives regarding the British Bases, a Foreign Office Spokesman
said: We have taken note but are satisfied that we have fulfilled our
financial commitments to the Republic of Cyprus
