The wind will be northwest to northeast light, 3BF during night and morning and light to moderate sea breezes 3-4BF in the afternoon. The state of sea will be slight. The temperature will range between (18-33)C inland, between (20-31)C south coast, between (18-29)C west coast, and between (13-22)C over the mountains. Further small increase is expected on Saturday. Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 13/10/2002 to 14/10/2002 Mainly fine on Sunday with high cloud and small decrease in temperature while on Monday the weather will be partly cloudy with risk of rain and further decrease in temperature. [04] World Customs Organisation conference opens1345:CYPPRESS:04World Customs Organisation conference opens Nicosia, Oct 10 (CNA) -- The Cyprus Customs Authority has been working with valuable assistance from the US customs administration to strengthen its export and trans-shipment controls, in order to target weapons of mass destruction and other instruments of terrorism, Cyprus Finance Minister Takis Klerides said here today. Klerides was addressing a regional conference of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) on ''Security and Facilitation in the International Trade Supply Chain', held today and tomorrow in Nicosia. The Finance Minister added that Cyprus, as a candidate country for accession to the EU, takes very seriously its obligation to introduce laws and procedures which are in line with EU legislation. [05] EU rapporteur warns Turkey1920:CYPPRESS:05Poos:Turkey can forget its EU membership if it annexes northern Cyprus by Maria Koniotou Brussels, Oct 10 (CNA) - If Turkey annexes the areas of Cyprus it occupies since 1974, it can forget its European Union membership, Jacque Poos, rapporteur of the European Parliament on Cyprus' accession to the European Union, has said. ''You cannot join the EU with an illegal territory annexed'' he said, noting that such an annexation will be illegal and that Cyprus' territorial integrity must be respected. Poos, who will be visiting Cyprus at the end of the month for meetings with government officials and the parliament, said that there is a momentum now for a political solution in Cyprus, noting that most European Parliament members believe that the best scenario would be for a solution to be reached before accession. [08] Finance Minister presents state budget for 20032000:CYPPRESS:08Finance Minister presents state budget for 2003 Nicosia, Oct 10 (CNA) The Cyprus economy has shown excellent progress and its greatest achievement is the imminent completion of accession negotiations with the European Union, Finance Minister Takis Klerides has said. In a speech before the House of Representatives as he tabled the state budge for 2003, the minister said that all indications are that the economy is expected to do well next year. The budget provides for 23.068,7 million Cyprus pounds in expenditure and 2.389,4 million pounds in revenue. The total public deficit is expected to broaden by 453,1 million pounds and reach 6362,2 million pounds or 93,7 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) compared to 5909,1 million or 94,9 percent of the GDP expected by the end of this year.
