Vice President of German Bundestag visits Cyprus

Nicosia, Mar 27 (CAN)- Vice President of the German Bundestag, Petra Blaess, on a five day official visit here, said today that the next few weeks will be decisive for further developments in the island. She added that the members of the Bundestag follow with great interest developments regarding both the accession course of Cyprus to the EU as well as the efforts for a solution to the Cyprus problem.

Top UN Cyprus envoy wants intensified talks

Larnaca, Mar 27 (CNA) -- The top UN envoy on Cyprus, Alvaro de Soto, who has been conducting peace talks on the island, wishes to see negotiations intensified in the next round of discussions, beginning 9 April.

Alvaro de Soto also said on departure for consultations in Ankara, Athens and New York, that he would not be satisfied until there is a comprehensive settlement.
