    [01] Commonwealth - McKinnon - Cyprus problem

    London, Sep 20 (CNA) -- "The Cyprus issue has been going on for a far too long time" Commonwealth Secretary General Don McKinnon said yesterday during a conference held at the Marlborough House, seat of the Commonwealth Secretariat, for the presentation of his report to the Brisbane Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

    McKinnon was replying to questions by CN� correspondent about the way towards a solution to the Cyprus problem having in mind that Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash has not turned up for talks on Cyprus with the UN.

    [02] Weather forecast for Cyprus

    Nicosia, Sep 20 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:

    Friday and Saturday: 21/9/2001 to 22/9/2001

    The weather will be mainly fine, although local mist or fog is expected to form towards dawn. Gentle to Moderate sea breezes will prevail during daytime, while mainly light katabatic winds will blow overnight. The state of sea will be slight. Maximum temperature is expected aroun 35C inland and between 29 and 31C over the coasts. Minimum temperature between 18 and 20C.

    Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 23/9/2001 to 24/9/2001

    No change in the weather is expected, while maximum temperature will rise slightly on Monday.

    Sea Temperature: 26C

    [03] Cyprus Finance Minister - Council of Europe

    Nicosia, Sep 20 (CNA) -- Cyprus Finance Minister Takis Klerides said here today that Cyprus is committed to cooperate with all countries to combat money laundering.

    Speaking after a meeting he had with a Council of Europe (CoE) delegation visiting Cyprus, Klerides said that "Cyprus has a high standard legislation (for combating money laundering), something which is fully acknowledged" by foreign competent organisations and assured that Cyprus' authorities "monitor the situation" and continuously enhance their measures and their know-how, to combat money laundering.
