    [02] President Clerides - Return

Nicosia, Sep 12 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides returns to Cyprus from Montreal, Canada, where his plane carrying him to New York for a meeting with UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, landed yesterday after the terrorist attacks in the United States.

Reliable sources told CNA that President Clerides leaves Montreal tonight and returns to Cyprus Friday via Zurich, where he will stay overnight.

The same sources said efforts were made today to allow President Clerides to travel to New York to meet UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, as it was scheduled, but that was impossible because of the emergency situation declared in the US after the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
