[02] Foreign Minister - Cyprus question - EU accession
Nicosia, May 19 (CNA) - Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides today said that
no developments are expected in the Cyprus peace effort at least until the
autumn, because despite diplomatic and silent efforts by foreign mediators
involved "the Turkish side has not been convinced to abandon its
intransigent demands".
Referring to the Republic's European Union accession course, Kasoulides
told a press conference that Cyprus is once again leading the other
candidate states in the effort to adopt the acquis communautaire and will
soon provisionally close 23 of the 29 chapters that have to be examined.
