    [03] Spokesman - US report - Human rights

    Nicosia, Feb 28 (CNA) -- The government intends to ask Washington to amend its approach on certain matters relating to a human rights report, issued by the State Department, on Cyprus.

    Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou, noting that there are some improvements in this year's report, said it is not pleased with the way information on human rights is presented, nor is it satisfied with the use of certain terms and the way the Republic of Cyprus is compared with the self- styled Turkish Cypriot regime in northern occupied Cyprus.

    [04] Assize Court - Turkish Cypriot

    Larnaca, Feb 28 (CNA) -- The Assize court, convening in Larnaca, will issue on March 16 its judgment in the case of Turkish Cypriot Omer Tekogul, 42, who faces seven charges of possessing and supplying two kilos of heroin to undercover Drug Enforcement policemen.

    Today the court heard the final statmenets by Tekogul's Turkish Cypriot lawyer Giusel Katri and prosecution lawyer Elena Cleopa.

    [05] Russia - Cyprus - Protocol of Cooperation

    Nicosia, Feb 28 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Russia will sign here tomorrow a Protocol of Cooperation providing the indicative guidelines for the further development and enlargement of cooperation in the next years, Finance Minister Takis Klerides has said, speaking on the sidelines of the Second Conference of the Cyprus- Russian Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation, that started here today.

    Describing the Protocol as important, Klerides said he has agreed with the Russian First Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. Aleksei Ulyukaev, heading the Russian delegation, to enhance cooperation between the two countries "by implementing what we will be signing tomorrow."

    [06] Cyprus - Iran - Foreign Ministers

    Nicosia, Feb 28 (CNA) � Foreign Ministers of Cyprus and Iran, Ioannis Kasoulides and Kamal Kharazzi, today discussed the Cyprus peace effort, regional issues and matters of mutual interest at a meeting in Teheran, during which they also examined the furthering of relations in the political, economic and cultural fields, both at the regional and international levels.

    According to an Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) report, Kasoulides expressed appreciation to Iran for its support to efforts to find a just and viable solution to the Cyprus problem and underlined Iran's stabilising role in the region.
