[01] Cyprus - Singapore - Agreement
Nicosia, Nov 24 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Singapore have signed an agreement for
the avoidance of double taxation.
The agreement was signed in Singapore by the two countries' Finance
Ministers, Takis Klerides of Cyprus and Richard Hu Tsu Tau of Singapore.

Nicosia, Nov 24 (CNA)-- European Parliament rapporteur for Cyprus'
accession to the European Union Jacques Poos today said the body "is
willing to take Cyprus aboard as quickly as possible" as it is one of the
candidate countries that has made huge efforts to meet the requirements.
Poos, on a visit to discuss developments in the UN effort for a settlement
on the island and the EU accession process, said the Republic could join
the Union without a prior settlement to its political problem but expressed
the hope this prospect would act as a catalyst to reach a solution on the
island.
