Nicosia, Jul 14 (CNA) -- Russia has expressed its readiness to actively
contribute towards finding a stable, permanent and comprehensive solution
to the Cyprus question based on the relevant UN resolutions to the benefit
of all Cypriots.
The Russia position was set out in a statement released yesterday by the
country's Foreign Ministry on the third round of the UN-led proximity talks
on Cyprus, the first phase of which ended on Wednesday in Geneva.

Nicosia, Jul 14 (CNA) -- The European People's Party (EPP), the largest
political group in the European Parliament, has fully supported Cyprus'
entry into the European Union, as soon as possible.
Spanish EuroMP Alejandro Agag Logo, EPP Secretary General, told a gathering
here last night that "we should not let the Cyprus problem to be an
obstacle to your integration in the Union."

Nicosia, Jul 14 (CNA) -- Trade exchanges between Cyprus and Russia are
characterised by an imbalance against Cyprus, the island's Commerce,
industry and Tourism Minister Nicos Rolandis has said.
He told a gathering organised by the Cyprus-Russian Business Association
and the Cyprus-Russian Friendship Association here last night that total
imports for 1999 amounted to almost 59 million Cyprus pounds whereas total
exports reached 35.3 m. pounds out of which only 1.4 m. pounds were
domestic exports (one CY pound is 1.6 US dollars).
