[01] Bertens - Cyprus - Award
Nicosia, Apr 19 (CNA) - Dutch former EuroMP Jan Willem Bertens was
decorated Grand Commander of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Cyprus,
during a ceremony in The Hague yesterday.
Bertens was decorated by Cyprus Ambassador to The Hague Alexandros Zenon,
who said that the award was an expression of deep appreciation and
recognition of the government and the people of Cyprus for Bertens' service
and achievements in the European Parliament on matters relating to the
protection of human rights and democratic freedoms, and the implementation
of international law in international relations.
