    by Maria Koniotou

Durban, Nov 12 (CNA) -- Commonwealth Secretary General Chief Emeka Anyaoku stressed here today many Commonwealth countries are entering the new century on a footing of insecurity and that the Commonwealth and the wider international community must wage a relentless campaign against xenophobia and intolerance.

Addressing the biennal conference of the 54-member grouping, made up largely of former British colonies, he said he leaves the Commonwealth next year with a renewed faith about its ability to be a continuing source of hope.
