[01] Prominent businessman dies
Nicosia, May 8 (CNA) -- Stelios Ioannou, one of the island's leading
businessmen and well known for his charity work, has died at the age of 84.
Ioannou, a close friend of President Glafcos Clerides, yesterday
underwent surgery at Nicosia General Hospital after suffering aneurism of
the aorta.
According to hospital sources, he died early this morning of
complications following the operation.
