London, Feb 14 (CNA) -- Leftwing parties of Cyprus, Greece and Turkey met
yesterday in London and discussed the latest developments in the Cyprus
issue and their role in efforts to lift the deadlock.
Suggestions for promoting confidence building measures between the two
communities in Cyprus, were also made during the meeting.
Attending the conference were Cyprus' leftwing party AKEL (Greek
Cypriot), the Turkish Cypriot parties Republican Turkish Party and
Patriotic Unity Movement, the Greek Communist Party and the Left Coalition,
and the Turkish Freedom and Solidarity party.
Today the party representatives will attend a joint gathering of Greek
and Turkish Cypriots.
