NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - President in the B&H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS) Momcilo Krajisnik had talks in Pale with the UN Special Envoy for Human Rights Jirzy Debentbiro on a situation of Serbs from RS detained in FB&H and Serbs from RSK in Croatian prisons. "We actualised detained Serbs issue - Vasic, Hrvacanin, Damjanovic, Herak, Cancar, Ivanovic and others who are currently in the prison in FB&H" - said Krajisnik after the meeting. According to him Debentbir promised that he would do everything to check investigative measures taken against detained RS citizens in order to be found adequate measures for their release.

BANJALUKA - The RS vice-president Dragoljub Mirjanic departed for Sarajevo on a work meeting with representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe during which previous activities will be analysed in the field of education and cultural heritage. Mirjanic said that the gathering might be the first step toward more intensive cooperation with Europe cultural and educational institutions.

PODGORICA - Delegation of the RS Ministry of Health and Social Care headed by Minister Zeljko Rodic reached an agreement in Podgorica on a action plan and cooperation with Montenergo Ministry of Health and Social Care by the year of 2000. It has been emphasised that principles have been agreed on joint research projects, and realisation of strategic health systems of RS and Montenegro.

SARAJEVO - Representatives of the RS Army, Muslim Army, Defence Ministries from both entities, relevant centres and commissions for demining and SFOR signed in Federation part of Sarajevo the Memorandum on De-mining in which it has been stated precisely for labour conditions of soldiers and other employees to be equalised . Before the signing took place the VRS and Muslim Army representatives lieutenant general Momir Talic and general Rasim Delic asked for an additional annex which would state precisely existence of the relevant institution for assurance of soldiers, what has been written in the text of the Memorandum.

BANJALUKA - Professor of the School of Economics in Belgrade Ljubomir Madzar thinks that privatisation in RS must be started with distribution of coupons, which would be replacement for old currency savings by which the state would pay off the debt to citizens and improve its reputations among people.

BANJALUKA - The OSCE Mission in B&H expressed concern regarding "threats, harassments and frightenings of those officials and candidates on the elections who tried to change its political determination". The OSCE watch closely on these kind of events.

PRISTINA - Policemen Mirko Radunovic and Dejan Prelevic have been killed during yesterday's attacks of ethnic Albanian terrorists on the Serbian village of Lodj near Pec while six policemen were injured - Media Centre in Pristina announced. The injured are : Goran Novakovic, Dejan Drljevic, Dragan Keseljevic, Zeljko Novicevic, Josif Vukic and Borivoje Kuc.

PARIS - France wants an urgent and open action of the international community to remove danger of a general clash in Kosmet - French Foreign Affairs Ministry announced. "Situation in Kosmet has been changed with strengthening of the KLA which controls 40% of a territory" - said Ann Gaseau Secre, spokesman of the Key d' Orse adding that "France supports the peaceful solution but does not exclude option of eventual force use".

BELGRADE - Delegation of the Main Political management of the Chinese People's Liberation Army arrived in an official visit to Belgrade headed by lieutenant general Yiang Hsuofang, informative service of the FRY Army announced. The Chinese delegation was welcomed at the airport by chief of the VJ Informative Management brigadier general Gradimir Zivanovic.

BANJALUKA - The U.S. Special Envoy for the Balkans Robert Gelbard assessed in Banjaluka after talks he had with the Republika Srpska (RS) President Biljana Plavsic that significant improvements took place in RS especially in the last six months. "People in RS will live better if the future Government is to support democracy and the Dayton Peace Accord" - said Gelbard. He stressed that the U.S. would support those "who supports the Dayton Accord no matter who they are". He also said that the U.S. Government was very interested in the future of that country.

BANJALUKA - The RS President Biljana Plavsic received in Banjaluka Her Royal Highness Princess Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic who is for the first time in RS. She is here to offer help for realisation of a project or rehabilitation of thise who suffered damages in the war, for whom her Foundation will give $U.S.4,3 millions. During this occasion President Plavsic offered to Princess Jelisaveta the RS citizenship. Princess Jelisaveta was very pleased with her visit to RS and meeting with the RS President.

BANJALUKA - The RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik and the U.S. Special Envoy for the Balkans Robert Gelbard had talks in Banjaluka about process of privatisation and the police reconstruction in RS. Dodik said that mutual pleasure was expressed because of adoption of the privatisation package by which RS will be able to join the European economic courses. These law documents were done in cooperation with the U.S. Government and its institutions. Referring to the police reconstruction in RS especially in part charged by the IPTF, Dodik expressed hope that the issue would be correctly and adequately treated.

SARAJEVO - The OSCE chairman Bronislaw Geremek expressed in Federation part of Sarajevo concern regarding situation in B&H and explained that some officials and candidates interested in change of political determination were threatened. "The OSCE is really concern because of that. The forthcoming elections will be a challenge but I am assure that the international community will do everything for it to be carried out properly", said Geremek at the press-conference.

PEC - Ethnic Albanian terrorists attacked again Serb village of Lodja near Pec after the Serbia MUP members made terrorists to retreat toward the village of Grapc - SRNA correspondent reports. During these clashed three Serb policemen were injured - Nenad Milajic, Vladan Krstajic and Nenad Zivkovic, all from Pec.

PRISTINA - Ethnic Albanian terrorists who attacked yesterday Serb village of Belice in the Istok Municipality continued today with the attacks - SRNA has learned in Istok. The terrorists attacked with snipers and automatic rifles. From the village of Leocina which has around 300 ethnic Albanian houses terrorists are attacking in the hardest way. Serbs from this village were expelled in May and their houses were burned.

BELGRADE - Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic and Deputy Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Nikolaj Afanisejvski are ready to continue bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Continuation of joint efforts has been agreed in preserving of regional stability and security aiming to the open and equal cooperation between states and nations.

PODGORICA -The Montengro Government established general positions for negotiations with FRY and Croatia in solving of a disputable question of Prevlaka and Draft of the Contract for solving of this question. At the session chaired by the Montenegro Prime Minister Filip Vujanovic contents of the Contract has been established numbering 6 articles which should solve the disputable question of Prevlaka.
