NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BRCKO - The premier of Republika Srpska /RS/ and president of the Party of Independent Social-Democrats /SNSD/ Milorad Dodik said last night at the Electoral Assembly of the Municipal organisation of that party in Brcko that this town should stay in RS and that the Government will do all to prove that it is for consistent implementation of Dayton Agreement. "If the main arbiter Roberts Owen pass different decision, the democratic processes in RS will be jeopardised, the Government will stay without support and the crisis will be returned at the beginning" - warned Dodik. He stressed that RS became a favourite of the peace process, and did not loose not a least part of its sovereignty.

PALE - Last night around 18,00 SFOR withdrew its military forces which were yesterday deployed in Pale - announced the spokesman of multi-ethnical ground forces Christian Richicci, denying that this action is linked with the plan of arresting Mr. Radovan Karadzic. The representatives of SFOR stated that this action was connected with inspection of facilities of special police forces of RS in accordance with Annex 1 of Dayton peace agreement.

VIENNA - In Vienna is starting the two days international meeting with the topic "Alternatives to spreading of NATO - creating non-aligned, neutral zone without atomic weapons in Europe", at which participate the member of Directorate of Yugoslav Left /YUL/ Ratko Krsmanovic. At the conference, organised by Communist Party of Austria, participate the representatives of parties and organisations of the left political orientation from almost whole Europe, s well as international experts".

PODGORICA - The popular Sarajevo's group "Indexi", with the soloist Davorin Popovic, held last night in the overcrowd auditorium of the Sport Centre Moraca the first concert in FRY since 1992. Representing to the public also few songs from their new album, at the concert appeared also the famous Yugoslav composer and musician Kornelije Kovac, who played instead of keyboard player Sinan Alimanovic.

GACKO - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic assessed that the situation in Eastern Herzegovina is difficult, because majority of enterprises use only 20% of their capacities, and most difficult is in Bileca, because of what, as she said, to the Government will be proposed to consider the possibility of sending aid to that municipality. Particularly they talked about refugees in the collective accommodation centres. The president of RS is content with the overall economic situation in Gacko which, according to her, in spite of numerous obstacles, substantially better than in majority of other municipalities in Eastern Herzegovina. The president of RS would, in the framework of visit to Eastern-Herzegovina municipalities, tonight should visit Trebinje.

SARAJEVO - The payment of pensions and other acceptances from the resources of Public fund for pension and disabled persons insurance of Republika Srpska /RS/ for January of this year will start tomorrow, on April 4, in the region of whole Republic, is stated in the announcement of the fund, forwarded to SRNA. The height of pensions remains the same as in the December, last year.

ATHENS - Under the titles:"NATO in front of the door of Mr. Karadzic" and "NATO is testing Karadzic's nerves", the Greek news "Tanea" and "Elephterotipia" are commenting yesterday's numerous presence of SFOR forces in Pale, which was for SRNA officially explained as the routine inspection of police facilities, and is not linked with the former president of RS. Although it cited the statement of un-named NATO representative from Brussels that in question is the regular inspection of police facilities in accordance with Annex 1a of the Dayton Agreement, the Greek state television nevertheless concludes that yesterday's operation represent "specific pulling the encirclement around Karadzic".

AMSTERDAM - The status of the Jewish community is evident example that reasons for blocking return of refugees to Sarajevo do not lie only in Serbian-Moslem non-tolerance, but in attempts of authorities to keep this city as much as possible ethnically clear - is said in the report of International Crisis Group. "The behaviour of Moslem authorities is threatening to jeopardise entirely the survival of Jews in Sarajevo " - is said in the comment and added that to the Catholic church was returned the third of property, while to Serbian and Jewish religious communities was not returned anything yet.

BANJA LUKA - The IPTF spokesman fro the regions of Banja Luka and Bihac Alun Roberts warned at the press conference in Banja Luka that international police forces will not allow to the police of RS and Federation B&H /FB&H/ to place illegal checkpoints on the inter-entity demarcation lines. He stressed that this measure is particularly related to the region of Sarajevo, because the police patrol from FB&H rejected the order of IPTF to leave one such illegal check-point. He confirmed that IPTF delivered to the local police in Drvar two Croats who are in jail, because of founded suspicion of arson.

BANJA LUKA - The state Commission of RS for exchange of POWs and civilian persons will perform exhumation of bodies of Serbian soldiers and civilians in the village Krnjeusa near Bosanski Petrovac, After the exhumation will be known the exact number of victims in this grave, who were killed during the aggression on Western parts of RS, performed by joint units of Croatian and Moslems armies in September 1995.

DOBOJ - The representatives of Red Cross of DOboj region and Zenica-Doboj Canton agreed in Doboj that commencement of cooperation between these two organisations will start with activities on clarifying the destiny of soldiers and civilians disappeared during the war. It was agreed that the searching teams in the municipalities of this region connect as soon as possible and intensify cooperation.

BANJA LUKA - The Republican board of Syndicates of structural engineering and housing communal activities concluded at the meeting in Banja Luka that they will form as soon as possible the steering Boards and elect directors of state enterprises, in order to activate the capacities from this field. At the meeting, attended by the resor minister Jovo Basic, was agreed that, in the framework of their possibilities, RS will help the structural engineering companies and at least partly satisfy its financial obligations for performed jobs.
