NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The Vice-president of Republika Srpska (RS) and president of the University in Banjaluka Dragoljub Mirjanic had talks in Banjaluka with the German Ambassador to B&H Heneken Basevic about possibilities of closer cooperation in domain of culture and science of RS and Germany. According to the statement from president's office at the university, this year have been envisaged extension of cooperation with the Office of Goethe Institute in Belgrade in domain of social sciences and studies of the German language.

SARAJEVO - With change of administration boards and directors of public, main, subordinate and basic state enterprises, the Government of the Prime- Minister Milorad Dodik seriously violated the Law on state enterprises, procedure regulated by the law has not been conducted previously - is said in a statement from the Cabinet of RS Prime - Minister Gojko Klickovic. " There are no data on rational reasons for this kind of act of the new Government and they are not publicly issued. By this kind of act Serbian public is surprised and astonished for several reasons" - is said in a statement issued on the occasion of yesterday's decisions of the new Government on personnel changes in most of enterprises in RS.

BANJALUKA - The High Representative Office of International Community Spokeswoman Aisling Byrne introduced in Banjaluka three designs of the future B&H flag, which were made by six member 'independent commission'. Aisling Byrne assessed that these suggestions of the possible flag would be presented at the B&H Parliamentary Assembly, which would be held on January 3, and final verification would be performed at the B&H Presidency meeting on January 4.

PRISTINA - The Albanian terrorists fired from automatic weapons on a helicopter of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) on the road Klina- Srbica near Turcevac. As SRNA learns from sources close to the MUP, in this attack the helicopter has been damaged, but it had succeeded to proceed flight to its destination.

BRUSSELS - British Foreign Affairs Minister Robin Cook stated in Brussels that "EU is supporting return of autonomy to Serbian province of Kosovo, but it condemns efforts of Albanians to accomplish that through violence and terrorism - reports Reuters. "EU is supporting the high level of autonomy, but we can not support any act of violence or terrorism" - said Robert Cook after the meeting with chief of Albanian diplomacy Paskal Milo.

ZAGREB - Former members of Croatian Army Milan Levar, Zdenko Ropac and Zdenko Bando have accused in Zagreb several officials of Croatian Government of covering up kidnapping and killings of Serbian and Croatian civilians in Gospic during the war in Croatia - reports Reuters. Those three have also accused the Hague Tribunal because of slow reacting on their requests, which enabled Croatian authorities to cover up the crimes. Levar claims that mass tombs can still be found near Gospic, although some of them have been dislocated and left empty by members of Croatian Army, before the inspectors of the Tribunal could have checked them.

BELGRADE - Numerous Serbs who were detained during the Croatian armed forces action "Oluja" in 1995 are still in the Croatian jails and 18 of them announced from the County Jail in Solin near Split that on February 1 they would go on a hunger strike - reports Tanjug. Detained Serbs, sentenced from 5 to 20 years prison time, are demanding to let them free or for the alleged crimes to be put on trial before the Hague Tribunal.

SKOPLJE - Serbian clergymen were not in the position to attend the breaking of a Slava cake in the church of St. Spas in the biggest Serbian village in the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (BJRM) - Kuceviste, because they were banned on doing religious service and religious ceremonies, while the Turks, Gypsy, Albanians and other ethnic groups in BJRM are allowed to do that. Clergymen could not proceed with their religious services in the central rite of the Serbian old school Slava St. Sava in this Serbian village inhabited by 3.000 people, which is in the region of the Skopska Montenegro, but the day of St. Sava was after all celebrated in the Primary Schools where the giving of instruction is conducted in the Serbian language.

ZAGREB - The president of Croatia Franjo Tudjman stated that Croatia would look for the international arbitrage for unsolved question of border- crossing with FRY and Slovenia, unless agreement in bilateral discussions was reached - reports Reuters.
