NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

VLASENICA - The President of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Presidency Aleksa Buha is convinced that his party will win at forthcoming elections for parliament of the Republika Srpska (RS) and, that the earned trust of the people will be same as last year when SDS has won support of over 50% of the electoral body. "Parliamentary elections are different from municipality ones. At those elections the decision about maintaining of the Republika Srpska sovereignty should be brought and that can be done with the party which has created RS and that is SDS" - stated Buha during addressing over Radio Vlasenica. "The last session of SDS main board is a sign of the SDS regeneration" - added Buha. Buha reminded at conducting of some changes in the SDS top and emphasised that municipality elections results are not satisfying. The main reasons for this dissatisfaction are problems whitin the party as well as the media campaign and the international pressure on SDS. He also reminded on the media blockade of the RS eastern part and announced a possibility of reaching an agreement with the international factors about resuming of the programme broadcast.

BANJALUKA - The Vice-president of the Republika Srpska (RS) and the Rector of the Banjaluka University Dragoljub Mirjanic talked in Banjaluka with the representative of the joint Britain- Yugoslavian company for education "Novolab" Tom Ryan about assistance in modernising of the teaching aid and school equipment which is indispensable at all levels of education. They also discussed about visit of the RS lecturers to England and about organising of the seminar about usage of school equipment from different fields of the educational system.

BANJALUKA - The annual session of the city parliament in Banjaluka is scheduled for tomorrow in 11.00 hours - stated the city mayor Savo Cuk. Since neither one of eleven parties and coalitions have not majority in parliament there's been reached a "gentleman agreement" and initiative is leaved up to Socialist party of the Republika Srpska (SPRS) which is at last elections gained 520 votes more of the Serbian Party of Krajina and Posavina (SSKP) although they have the same number of seats in the parliament.

SARAJEVO - On the road Serbian Sarajevo - mountain Trebevic the Muslim civilians stoned the column of automobiles with the RS registration plates. This incident is confirmed to SRNA in the station of public security in Pale and it is been reported to IPTF and to SFOR. According to the passengers statements only one of four cars is damaged and there is no injured persons. SRNA unofficially finds out that SFOR soldiers which were in column's escort did not reacted at this attack.

PRISTINA - The Serbian Movement of Resistance /party/ (SPO) and Rashka Eparchy forwarded the letter to US envoy for Balkan Robert Gelbard with proposition that he, during tomorrows visit to Kosovo, meet the Serbian representatives.

MILICI - Monthly construction output of the prefabricated house factory workers is up to 500 square meters of the commercial and living space and they currently working at 20 building sites in RS and in Federal Republic Yugoslavia (FRY) from which the largest is in Visegrad where they building the settlement of 60 housing objects for accommodation of the refugees.

SARAJEVO - The RS economy after wartime work of 20-30% capacity slowly recovers itself. One of prewar giant Companies "Cajavec Holding" is back on the scene after conquering of the quality reward at the 6. international exhibition of electronics, medicine and veterinary medicine in Novi Sad. Another giant, the "Energoinvest" from Serbian Sarajevo is back at the world market and after holding of the "Jahorina '97" tourism and hotel management fair, the first step towards reviving of the tourism was made.

SARAJEVO - During the next week the majority of the municipalities in RS will constitute new municipal parliaments which will have changed political and national structure. In some cities the annual sessions will not be held because of irregularities during municipal elections and because of unrealistic demands from the parliament representatives which are members of the parties from Bosnia and Herzegovina Federation.

BIJELJINA - With the participation of 37 drivers form RS and FRY the car race called "Reward of Srpska - Bijeljina '97" was held in Bijeljina. The race was driven at the 2500 meters long circle path in 15 laps and four classes. The winner in national class up to 1,150 cubic centimetres is Miodrag Micic from Auto-motors club "Formula" based in Novi Sad.
