NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - By the decision of the Provisional Electoral Commission /PEC/, the registration of new and the confirmation of old nominees for independent candidates, who have intention to participate on the September's elections in Republika Srpska /RS/ and the Federation B&H /FB&H/ starts today, and will last until May 19. According to the electoral rules, independent candidates, along with the application for registration, must attach the list with 100 signatures of citizens, by which is supported their candidacy, as well as the statement on acceptance the Dayton Agreement and Code of conducting for political parties and independent candidates.

BANJA LUKA - The spokesman of the Regional Centre of OSCE in Banja Luka Thomas Miglierina confirmed that the "registration of voters for local elections successfully started in all municipalities in Western part of RS". "Temporarily is stopped only registration in Brcko until the final decision on holding the elections in this municipality, and in Srpska Kostajnica because of discontentment because the Provisional Electoral Commission didn't allow them the status of independent electorate", said Miglierina at the press conference.

DOBOJ - The local electoral commission in Doboj sent the objection to the Provisional Electoral Commission /PEC/ because directing the citizens from parts of the municipality Maglaj, who after demarcation belonged to the municipality Doboj, for the registration in the municipality Petrovo. In the objection is stated that the citizens from these parts of the municipality at last elections were registered in the municipality Doboj, where in accordance with Law on territorial organisation of RS, they belong.

BELGRADE - On the second day of registering the voters in the region of Belgrade for the September's local elections in RS and FB&H the turnout was very small. The agent of the commissioner of the Belgrade's municipality Zvezdara Vlado Milenkovic said that "the voters were not informed yet about the place and way of registering, so that it is the reason of weak response". "In our municipality all the preparations were finished, and we believe that the response of voters will be satisfactory until the end of month", he explained.

DOBOJ - By the delaying the final decision on the elections in Brcko, the international community is continuing with the policy of double standards, looking for counterpart for divided Mostar, and the exit from the situation of confusion in FB&H by finding the culprits in RS - deems the Municipal Board of the Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/ of Doboj.

BANJA LUKA - The IPTF spokesman for the region West Alun Roberts condemned in Banja Luka the behaviour of the Croatian authorities and the police in Drvar, who didn't undertake anything to prevent the arson and destroying the Serbian houses in the Drvar's villages. Mr. Roberts precisely stated that in the villages Kokronoge and Lasice on May 2 and 3 unknown perpetrators have first taken away roofs, and then drenched with gasoline and burned 25 Serbian houses, and that they tried to do the same with another 25 houses.

AMSTERDAM - Milan Vujin, the new defence lawyer of Dusan Tadic, stated for SRNA, before departure for Hague, that he expects the acquittal for his client. "No court in the world, if it is impartial and professional, couldn't give sentence on the basis of the evidence that the court has in Tadic case", stressed Vujin and added that there is no any concrete evidence that he is guilty, nor any direct witness was brought before the court.

BRCKO - By the symbolic beginning at five minutes before twelve o'clock, the celebrating of the St. George's Day in Brcko marked also the invitation on the unity of Serbian people and protection of the Orthodox religion. In the organisation of the Municipal Assembly and the Association of people from Krajina and Posavina in Belgrade, the celebration of the St. George's Day in Brcko, under the title "Brcko - the link of the Serbian people", will last until next morning along with rich cultural and artistic programme.
