NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The presidency of Serbian Democratic Party of Serbian states /SDS SZ/ at the session in Pale, at which was deliberated the implementation of the Dayton Agreement, assessed the satisfying development of the situation regarding the forming of Central Bank in B&H. As stressed in the announcement on implementation the Dayton agreement from aspect of work of the joint organs of B&H the members of the SDS Presidency were acquainted by the president in B&H Presidency Momcilo Krajisnik and copresiding of the Council of Ministers of B&H Boro Bosic.

ROGATICA - At the meeting of the minister of internal affairs of RS Dragan Kijac with the chiefs of Police Station Sarajevo with the seat in Rogatica was concluded that the security and personal and material security of citizens is basically favourable, and that the status of the public order and peace is satisfying. The head of Police station Sreto Pekic acquainted Mr. Kijac with the status of security and measures and activities which the organs of internal affairs of RS are carrying out in this region.

BANJA LUKA - The vice-president of RS Government for economy Djuradj Banjac talked in Banja Luka with the president of the German firm "Winterschall" from Kesler Fritz Dresler about the possibility of building the main gas pipeline in RS. Mr. Dresler offered the project of building the main pipeline, in which building would participate also the "Gasprom" from Russia, according to which by gas pipeline network 70% of RS territory would be covered.

SARAJEVO - During the SFOR control of armoury of Moslem army in Pazaric last week was found the confiscated undeclared weapons, which will be destroyed as supernumerary - announced in Lukavica the spokesman of SFOR Dominic Evans. Last week SFOR controlled 108 armories - 25 of Moslems, 35 of Croatian Defence Council and 48 of Army of Republika Srpska /VRS/.

ROME - The Serbs won on elections in Srem-Baranja region /SBO/, and the Independent Democratic Serbian Party until now won 46,99% of votes in Vukovar - claims the Italian agency ANSA in the analysis based on the first official announcement of UNTAES on preliminary results for local government in SBO. According to this analysis, the Croatian Democratic Community /HDZ/ won 40,32%, and the opponents of the Croatian president Franjo Tudjman, organised in other Croatian parties, 12,69% of votes.

BELGRADE - The transitional administrator of UNTAES Jacques Klein assessed in Belgrade that the successful finishing of elections from April 13 and 14 is the real turning point in the peaceful reintegration of SBO into the constitutional order of Republic of Croatia. At the press conference, after talks with the president of Serbia Slobodan Milosevic, he assessed as a great success the fact that the pessimistic expectations, that great number of Serbs will leave the County, didn't became reality, because the turnout on elections was 90% of population who lived there in the time of signing the Erdut Agreement.

ZAGREB - The government of the Croatia will present until the end of this week the plan of returning the refugees in Croatia, which are being prepared by the representatives of the Government, UNTAES and UNHCR - announced the members of the Work Group. The plan will comprise few phases and will enable equal rights for Serbs and Croats to return to their homes. In the first phase of realising this plan, which starts immediately after its adoption, the refugees will be returned into empty houses.
