  • [01] 72 years since the first radio programme broadcast by RADIO ROMANIA

    On the 72 - nd anniversary of the ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION, the Broadcasting Building hosts the seminar on the theme THE ROLE AND PLACE OF CULTURAL RADIO. The seminar enjoys the participation of a number of personalities of the cultural life of the country. One of the ideas that permiated the first day of talks and debates was that the programme makers of RADIO ROMANIA CULTURAL should know all realities of the cultural life in all the localities of Romania and should concentrate on all demands of all listeners all over the country. Poetess Ana Blandiana and writer Romul Munteanu have spoken of form and content in the programmes of RADIO ROMANIA CULTURAL during this interval, at the end of a century and a millennium.

    At the Press Center of the ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION a number of events and manifestations are organized to celebrate 72 years since the creation of RADIO ROMANIA, the public radio of this country. Attending have been the President Director General of RADIO ROMANIA, Andrei Dimitriu, the Chief Executive Officer of our corporation, Dragos Seuleanu, deputy Director General Gheorghe Verman, and all the directors of the channels of RADIO ROMANIA. Present were also His Beatitude Teoctist, Academicians Gabriel Tepelea and Eugen Simion - the latter being also the President of the Romanian Academy - the ambassadors of Mexico and Japan to Romania. The President Director General of the ROMANIAN RADIO BROADCASTING CORPORATION, Andrei Dimitriu, inaugurated the initiative of the granting, by RADIO ROMANIA, of Diplomas of Excellence to personalities that had made a particularly outstanding contribution to revitalizing national Christian traditions. For the year 2000 this diploma was given His Beatitude Teoctist, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, informs RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI.

    [02] Meeting of the Ministers of Cults of the Balkan Region and of the countries neighboring Romania

    His Beatitude Teoctist, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, has received at the Patriarchal Palace, representatives of ministries of cults and ministers of cults of the Balkan region and of the countries neighboring Romania. The meeting is part of an ample action organized in the interval 30 October - 3 November by the State Secretariate for Cults of Romania and it is a first in this part of the continent. As part of the debates an exchange of experience is made on the issue of relationships between the State and the Church, of the relations among Churches as well as of the relations with the new religious cults and organizations, particular attention being attached to the rights and liberties given national minorities.

    [03] Athens reiterates its support for Romania's European Union adherence

    In Athens Mrs. Elizabeth Papazoi received the Romanian secretary of state with the Foreign Ministry of Bucharest, Eugen Dijmarescu, now on a visit to Greece, ANA reports. During the talks Mrs. Papazoi reiterated the support of Athens for the efforts of Romania toward the European Union as well as the promotion of accelerated negociations between the European Union and Romania. The Greek deputy foreign minister Elizabeth Papazoi offered support of the Greek cabinet in know-how regarding community procedures. The two officials also discussed the possibility of cancellation of visas for the Romanian citizens that travel to the European Union member countries.

    [04] The international colloquim CONFIDENCE IN THE STATE. LEGAL TRADITIONS AND GUARANTEES IN EUROPE AFTER 1989

    Bucharest sees the conclusion of the international colloquim under the motto mentioned with the final address of the Romanian official Flavius Buia, secretary of state with the Ministry of Justice focussing on the fact that participating countries Slovenia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany and Romania are facing similar issues and problems. Bilateral accords will be signed between the Ministries of Justice of Romania and Slovenia while relations of collaboration will be expanded between Romania, France and Germany.

    [05] Prime Ministers Viktor Orban and Mugur Isarescu inaugurated the new frontier point between Hungary and Romania for international traffic

    The Prime Ministers of Romania and Hungary declared the road between Nirabrany and Valea lui Mihai as FRONTIER POINT FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC. After having shaken hands on the inauguration the two Prime Ministers said that today the borders are no longer separating people of different countries - Viktor Orban - and that relations between Romania and Hungary are very strong today - Mugur Isarescu.

    [06] CALENDAR

    The Department for Communications of the Cabinet of Romania organizes the public debate on the theme DIALOG - THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID SOCIAL CONFLICTS. The debates of the seminar are moderated by Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu and representatives of the trade union federations and the employers.

    In the interval 1 - 3 Nov. Helsinki hosts Romanian - Finnish consultations at the level of foreign ministers of the two countries.

    ADEVARUL hosts debates with the following presidential candidates: Ion Iliescu, Theodor Stolojan, Mugur Isarescu, Petre Roman and Teodor Melescanu. They will answer the questions which are asked by the readers of the newspapaper ADEVARUL.

    The Romanian Association for Freedom and Development invites all the political parties, the civil society, mass media and representatives of business circles to sign a protocol for the support and promotion of women in the Romanian society.

    The State Ownership Fund will sign together with ROMPETROL GROUP B V ROTTERDAM the contract of privatization of the refinery PETROMIDIA, the contract which stipulates that the ROMPETROL GROUP B V ROTTERDAM takes over 70 per cent of the stock of the refinery.

    The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and that of the municipality of Bucharest are holding a press conference on the occasion of the forthcoming opening of the specialized exhibitions INDAGRA, EXPODRINK and ALL PACK at the ROMEXPO Press Center.

    Rentrop and Straton - Group of Book Editing and Business Consultancy are organizing in the town of Brasov the third edition of the Seminar on Fiscality.

    The first edition of the education fair takes place in Romania these days on the theme THE FESTIVAL OF YOUR CHANCES.

    Press Conference organized at the conclusion of the pilot programme as part of the education programme IT IS YOUR TURN TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

    The National Arts Museum of Romania organizes a package of education programmes meant to make more popular European arts in this country having in the focus of attention EUROPEAN ARTS GALLERY.

    The Goethe Institut of Bucharest is hosting the exhibition on paper and wood by Thomas P. Kausel.

    There are 72 years today since the inauguration of the first national radio programme broadcast by RADIO BUCHAREST which today is the ROMANIAN NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO CORPORATION. The first programme was broadcast on 1 November 1928, on a Thursday, starting 17:00.
