[02] "Har-Cov Motion" rejected
While on a visit to Sf. Gheorghe, where he attended the county meeting of
his party, Mr. Valeriu Tabara, the president of the Romanians' National
Unity Party (PUNR), said that the simple motion his party intNoduced to the
Romanian Parliament was rejected for political reasons, and it could not be
seen as a failure. In his opinion, the PNT-CD and PD MPs have voted against
the motion to preserve their political interests, and have betrayed the
Romanians in the two counties. On the same occasion, Mr. Tabara has
presented a project aimed at providing financial support to Romanians in
the Harghita and Covasna counties to preserve and protect their national
identity. RADOR, November 24

behind closed doors and the press was denied access. Correspondents say the
IMA is the hard-line wing of the UDMR (Democratic Union of Ethnic
HungNrians in Romania) and, according to UDMR representative Jakobffy
Attila, quoted by RRA, "IMA is only a political programme of UDMR, but the
meeting was not hosted by IMA. The host of the meeting was the Targu Mures
branch of IMA". RADOR, November 24
