    - "Meta in the office which controls state: I want names of corrupted functionaries." PM Ilir Meta has asked chairman of state control Mustafa Kercuku, the black lists with the names of the incriminated people in the state administration. - "Ferdinand Xhaferri: Bravo Berisha who accepted the invitation for cooperation." One of the reformers within DP, Xhaferri, hailed yesterday the statement in the media of the DP chairman Berisha, who said that he was ready to dialogue with every Albania regarding the fight against corruption, thus giving a positive reply to the offer of Meta." - "November Celebrations return again with magnificence." Since a night ago, Albanian capital Tirana, has started the celebrations of 28 and 29th of November, the National Day and the Independence Day.

    - EU: The port for you is open." Interview with Ambassador of EU Commission in Tirane, Michel Pereti. - "Meta: Come to me for everything." Primer Ilir Meta said yesterday that "Albanian government will assist foreign business by cleaning the ranks of the administration from the corrupted, who frequently manage to prevent foreign investments by carrying out acts which are punished by law." - "Prosecutor's office investigating into customs, taxation and SHIK offices." Judicial and officers of police of customs and taxation, said yes to the invitation by the chief prosecutor Arben Rakipi to cooperate in the fight against crime.

While opposing the decision of the District Court for the three-year imprisonment punishment for the heir-to-the-throne Leka Zogu, investigators said that not all proofs have been handled.

    [02] About 10 million USD from World Bank for 184 schools in Albania

    TIRANE, Nov. 27 (ata) - By P Shuteriqi: The World Bank project "On the rehabilitation of education network" in Albania has offered a fund of 9 600 000 dollars for the construction and rehabilitation of 184 schools of the 8th form system in 15 different districts in Albania, officials in the Ministry of Education and Science told ATA.

    The World Bank Fund was delivered since 1994 with a deadline up to 2000 and has been used in the amount of 96 per cent for the construction and equipment of 26 new school buildings and the rehabilitation of 184 others according to contemporary standards.

    The rest of the fund has been used for technical consultations and professional training of teachers and the school leading staffs. The districts which have benefited most from the WB fund are Shkodra, Puka, Kukes, Lezha,Durres, Tepelena, Lushnja, etc.

    Proceeding from the present situation of the schools, the Albanian Ministry of Education and Science and the World Bank decided that this project must also continue in 7 other districts, said today Gezim Xhepa, inspector in the Ministry of Education. /xh/

    [03] Exchange rates of Lek with foreign currencies in Tirana market

    TIRANE, Nov. 27 (ata) - By Dorian Koca: The dollar has maintained the same position in the currency market in Tirana in its exchange with Lek as compared with Friday. One dollar was bought at 135.5 lek and sold at 136 lek.

    [04] Kosove people are hardworking, they merit international aid - Thaci

    PRISHTINE, Nov. 27 (ATA) - By B.Jashari: The Premier of Interim Government of Kosove Hashim Thaci declared on Saturday in Prishtine that "the people of Kosove has testimonied that they love their motherland, they are hardworking and merit the international aid", the Ministry of Public Information of the Kosove Interim Government reports.

    The chairman of Kosove Interim Government who is just returned from Paris where he was attending the inter-parliamentary forum under the motto "The Balkans from stability to reconstruction" revealed that "he is optimistic because the security issue of Kosove, its stability and reconstruction were the main concerns of the meeting ".

    Thaci pointed out the unity of Kosova delegation in this conference on all the issues which render the situation in Kosove graver, and on finding "the way for achieving a desirable stability, for creating democratic institutions and reports and for accelerating reconstruction and development of the post-war Kosove".

    He hailed the participation of Bernard Kouchner in the conference who rejected with courage the voices on removal of Serbian sanctions without meeting some conditions such as the release of prisoners and of the kidnaped people and without handing over to the Hague-led Court the Serb criminals, responsible for the monstrous crimes committed in Kosove. /dast/A.A/

    [05] Soccer: tradition of Tirane, Prishtine football matches continues

    TIRANE, Nov. 27 (ATA) - By B.Meta: A team with representatives of three football teams of the Albanian capital, Tirane, will play with the team of Prishtine on Saturday.

    After the meeting of the veterans, held in Prishtine some weeks ago, now is the turn of the young footballers who will play a friendly soccer match consolidating in this way the cooperation between Kosove and Albanian sports.

    Prishtine was once part of the first league of former Yugoslavia and has competed with dignity against the renowned soccer teams of that time such as Partizani of Belgrade, Crvena Zvezda and Hajduk of Spliti.

    Among the distinguished names of FK Prishtine can be mentioned those of Fadil Vokrri, Luan Prekazi, Kujtim Shala and Sulejman Selimi. /dast/A.A/

    [06] The biggest Greek Cooperation of electric energy confirms it support for KESH

    TIRANE, Nov. 27 (ATA) - By Elton Metaj: The Greek Cooperation of Energetic expressed on Saturday its desire to cooperate with Albania in the field of electric energy.

    During the presentation of its activity in Klic fair, the representatives of DEI company confirmed the readiness to boost cooperation with the Albanian Energetic Cooperation (KESH).

    The Greek ambassador to Albania Aleksandros Mallias said during the presentation of DEI that "the main axis of cooperation between the Balkan countries is energy. It is hightime to increase the cooperation between DEI and KESH", said he.

    "The Greek government and Greek private sector have elaborated a plan in the context of Stability Plan which pays a special attention to Albania. The energetic sector will be one of the most important chapters to be discussed in Greece during the visit of Albania Premier Ilir Meta", - said Mallias.

    The Public Energetic Cooperation is the biggest company in Greece which mainly covers the request for energy of all Greek citizens and improves their living standard. /dast/A.A/

    [07] Pepsi Cola builds a modern factory in Gjirokaster

    TIRANE, Nov 27 (ATA) By E. Xhajanka: - For the first time the U.S. big company Pepsi Cola has presented its products and projects at the International fair Klik Ekspo Klik.

    This company, centered in USA and widelyspread all over the world, at last opened its affiliate in Albania.

    The first products came out of the factory a month ago and are being sold at the main cities of the country.

    Representatives of the U.S. company in the fair say that this factory was one of the most modern of this kind built in Balkans, which aims at expanding the activity with some four other production lines of refreshing drinks.

    Pepsi Cola is the second big company of refreshing drinks which built its factory in Gjirokaster, southern Albania, after that of Coca Cola's affiliate built several years ago in Tirane. /dast/gs/

    [08] Tendency of institutions to support Constitution praised

    TIRANE, Nov 27 (ATA)-By R. Xhuvani, Fehmi Agani, head of the Constitutional Court, on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the Constitution of Albania on Saturday, praised the tendency of Albanian institutions to support the Constitution.

    There is a positive tendency of constitutional institution to support, respect and implement the Constitution," Abdiu told a news conference.

    Likewise, the approval and declaration of the Constitution is of specific importance for the Constitutional Court, as this court is the institution which guarantees respect for the Constitution and makes its final interpretation.

    The new Constitution of Albania was voted by referendum on November 22,1998 and was declared by President Rexhep Meidani on November 28,1998. The Albanian factor evaluated it through referendum while the foreign factor considered it "a constitution of European standards". /led/lm/

    [09] Negotiations on EU membership to begin in January

    TIRANE, Nov 27 (ATA)- By Eva Londo, A delegation of the European Commission will come to Albania in January to closely examine the further procedure to open negotiations for Albania's adherence to EU, the Minister of Foreing Affairs, Paskal Milo, told ATA on Saturday.

    Milo, admitting that there is a visible progress in the relations of Albania with EU stressed that "the approval of the report on the feasibility by the European Commission was a foreseen measure. Other negotiations will follow, which will open finally the process of negotiations during the next year, in order that Albania signs the Agreement of Stability and Association with EU".

    The study of feasibility, also known as the report on the beginning of the negotiations to reach the agreement of Stabilization and Association with Albania, was approved by the European Commission in Brussels. /led/so/

    [10] Protocol of economic cooperation signed

    TIRANE, Nov 27 (ATA)-By D. Koca,

    Albania and China on Saturday signed a protocol of economic, trade, industrial and technical cooperation.

    The protocol provides the fields of cooperation between the two countries as well as an increase of Chinese presence in the reconstruction of electric power distribution network, the oil exploitation and utilization, agriculture and other fields.

    For the Albanian side the protocol was signed by Deputy Minister for Public Economy and Privatisation Pajtim Bello, and for the Chinese side by Xu Tong Hai, deputy head of European Department at the Chinese Foreign Trade Ministry.

    According to Bello "the protocol contains mutual commitments so that the Albanian institutions, right after signing the agreement, begin negotiations with the Chinese counterparts to carry out a series of concrete agreements."

    Meanwhile, the protocol is expected to positively affect trade exchanges between the two countries. /led/lm/

    [11] ANLW has an indisputable role in history of Albania

    TIRANE, Nov 27 (ATA)- By K.Shehu, The Antifascist National Liberation War (ANLW), and debates emerging during the last 10 years on this part of the Albanian history, were treated at a scientific conference organized in the National Museum on Saturday afternoon, by the Institute of History in Tirana.

    Present at this activity, that opened activities for the celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the Liberation of the Homeland, were President Rexhep Meidani, representatives of the government, politicians, historians and other figures.

    Xhelil Gjecovi in his report with the topic "Antifascist war and its place in Albania", said that "war was indeed bitter, difficult, with sacrifices, devastations, damages, losses, (28 thousand martyrs, but it was worth sacrificing, we won freedom, independence".

    Scholars of the history of Albania, among whom Viron Koka, Paskal Milo and others, treated in their reports the people's resistance against aggression of April 7th 1939. /led/so/
