In 1990 the communist government decided not to consider fleeing a treason and then many persons, mainly youngsters, tried to cross the border illegally but were massacred and their bodies were exposed in the border villages to terrorise the inhabitants. pas/lm/z/

TIRANA, NOV 21 (ATA) By I Manka:

The judicial process started Wednesday in Berati Court (Southern Albania) against the youths of Jehovaji religion, who, in a demonstrative way, refused to attend the obligatory military service.

Edlir Lipe, the first who was judged by the military judges and prosecutors, has rejected to attend the obligatory military service, because he is "soldier" of Jehovah religion and joining the military runs counter to his religious principles.

The court sentenced Lipe to 4 months in jail. The same sentence will also have his fellows, Lorenc Bushi, Astrit Hysi, Enkelejd Gode, Sajmir Gega, Arben Merko etc. Even these "soldiers" of Jehovah, for the sake of their religious principles refused to attend the military service.

The Attorney Office started the legal proceeding against the youths, after the court fined them with 15 000 lek. Some of them are under home arrest and in the following days they will be brought to trial.

The same thing happened last year in the 8-year school "22 Tetori", in the center of Berati, where several pupils of the 7th and 8th forms, "believers" of this religion, being incited by the missionaries of this religion, have not accepted to sing the National Anthem. /s.sh/eva/mt/Z/

[15] AZEM HAJDARI DISCHARGED FROM POST OF CHAIRMAN OF PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION OF PUBLIC ORDER AND NIS

TIRANA, NOV 21 (ATA) - By Agim Baci, Atlant Frasheri: The Parliamentary Commission of Public Order and National Information Service (NIS) today discharged deputy Azem Hajdari from the post of the chairman of this commission.

Regarding the motives for Hajdari's discharge from the post of the chairman, Mr A Simaku, secretary of the Parliamentary Commission of Public Order and NIS explained to ATA that "the members of the Commission, taking into consideration the recent acts by deputy Azem Hajdari, which run counter to the post of the chairman, and his involvement in trade union circles and total commitment to their activities, decided to take this decision," said A Simaku, secretary of the Parliamentary Commission of Public Order and NIS.

According to Simaku, "commitment of Azem Hajdari to these activities has been a serious obstacle in the work of the commission."

Mr Simaku also mentioned as another reason which led this commission to the above decision the fact that Mr Hajdari, being in the post of the chairman of the Commission of Public Order and NIS, has flagrantly violated the rules for a chairman and has gone beyond his parliamentarian competence, ordering the forces of order to carry out various acts without having the right to."

"Discharge of Hajdari from the post of the commission chairman is a decision of the commission itself, taken for objective motives," said DP chairman, Tritan Shehu, asked immediately after the decision of the commission.

In reply to a question about a possible request for removal of immunity of deputy Hajdari by a group of DP, Shehu said: "I have not received any official report regarding such a demand by the DP parliamentary group."

Deputy Hajdari has had the post of the chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of Public Order and NIS also in the previous legislature of the People's Assembly. kei/xh/sh/
