[12] "FAIR OF CROATIAN ECONOMY '96" OPENS IN TIRANA

TIRANA, NOV. 4 (ATA) - "Fair of Croatian Economy 96" opens today in the Palace of Congresses in Tirana and will display articles by 19 Croatian productive and trade firms for five days running.

"I hope the exhibition will contribute to the further intensification of the economic exchanges between our two countries and the recognition of the Croatian economy in Albania," said Mr Miljenko Babic, deputy director of the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

The fair presents a small part of what Croatian economy offers, nevertheless, the presence of Croatian companies here is rather essential.

"These firms are among the first which take interest in cooperation with Albanian partners and in investments in Albania. Albanian businessmen will have the possibility to see Croatian products and contact with the firms present in the fair with their food, textile articles, ready made garments, engineering, chemical articles, etc," said Mladen Juricic, Croatian Ambassador in Albania.

Since the separation of Croatia from the Yugoslav Confederation, the relations between Albania and Croatia are in an all-sided development in the past four years. Several agreements have also been signed for the protection of investments and trade exchanges.

"Today, Albania with its open policy and favourable conditions for investments, welcomes Croatian companies to invest in all the fields of economy," said Mrs Suzana Panariti, Albanian Minister of Industry, Transport and Trade.

The fair was organized under the auspices of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, the Croatian Embassy in Tirana and the Albania company, REXI. kei/xh/k

[13] FRESH IS NOT A MARIONETTE FOR SOME TO COVER UP THEIR PAST - FRESH chairman

TIRANA, NOV. 4 (ATA) - By Agim Baci: The latest attacks against Ilir Meta, chairman of the Eurosocialist Youth Forum of Albania (FRESH) by a group of this Forum, are for Meta nothing but a scenario of some marionettes which try to create problems in order to attack him and all those who have requested the resignation of the SP Presidency.

A declaration by the group of 41 FRESH members said that "Meta takes decisions privately, and, since the time he has been placed in the FRESH leadership, the Forum has taken a suspicious direction," and it asked Meta's withdrawal as the FRESH chairman.

SP leaders have considered these ideas as internal problems of this organization which they themselves may solve.

"There are no problems, but there some people who try to create problems. I am convinced that FRESH cannot become a marionette for some to cover up their past," said Meta.

The contradictions in the fold of the Youth Forum of SP are a consequence of the disarray created in this party after its great loss in the October 20 local vote, which Meta considered as "a catastrophe for SP" and accused the new SP presidency elected by chairman Fatos Nano. kei/xh/k
