INTRO: A PLANE CARRYING THE BODIES OF THREE U-S DIPLOMATS KILLED IN BOSNIA LAST WEEK IS ON ITS WAY BACK TO THE UNITED STATES. V-O-A'S KYLE KING REPORTS SURVIVING MEMBERS OF THE U-S DELEGATION TO BOSNIA ARE ACCOMPANYING THE BODIES, WHICH WERE FLOWN TO GERMANY FROM THE CROATIAN PORT OF SPLIT.

TEXT: AN HONOR GUARD PUT THE FLAG-DRAPED COFFINS OF THE THREE AMERICANS ON BOARD THE U-S AIR FORCE C-141 FOR THE DAY-LONG FLIGHT BACK TO THE UNITED STATES.

U-S ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE RICHARD HOLBROOKE AND HIS MILITARY ADVISOR, GENERAL WESLEY CLARK, ARE ACCOMPANYING THE BODIES HOME. IN BRIEF REMARKS TO REPORTERS IN GERMANY, MR. HOLBROOKE SAID THE DELEGATION HAD GONE TO BOSNIA AS A TEAM AND WOULD BE RETURNING HOME AS ONE.

ANALYSTS SAY THE DEATHS OF THE THREE AMERICANS WILL PROBABLY SET BACK U-S EFFORTS TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE CONFLICT IN THE FORMER YUGOSLAVIA.

ASSISTANT SECRETARY OF STATE HOLBROOKE SAYS A NEW U-S DIPLOMATIC TEAM WILL BE RETURNING TO THE REGION LATER IN THE MONTH, TO RESUME TALKS THAT HAD TO BE POSTPONED FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT THAT COST THE LIVES OF THE THREE AMERICANS AND ONE FRENCH PEACEKEEPER.
