NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic will propose the professor of the Economy Faculty in Banja Luka Mladen Ivanic as the new mandatory for composition of the Republican Government - learns SRNA from the sources close to the Cabinet of president of RS and Socialistic Party of RS. Ivanic will be proposed as off-party candidate.

NOVI SAD - Croatia did not give yet the data which would make easier the work of the Commission of the Government of FR Yugoslavia /FRY/ for humanitarian issues and missing persons - stated for Novi Sad's daily "Dnevnik" the secretary of the commission colonel Trajko Prokic. Without regard on 15 expert meetings, 10 work gatherings of operational character, which two parties held so far, Croats, in the way typical for them, had found different reasons and answers in order that these issues remain unresolved. The Commission will require from the Committee for war crimes and respective ministries to raise in Hague the indictments against the persons suspected for crimes against Serbs in the Croatian casamates.

AMSTERDAM - The commandos of NATO already from the beginning of 1993 are conducting the secret operations on the territory of B&H, and arresting of Serbs and Croats indicted for alleged war crimes is only one of their special tasks in the field - claims Dutch Ministry of Defence. Except the known English SAS units, in the action are also U.S. commandos "s - Force", French paratroops and Dutch command-elite units. The mission of these units are kept as the top secret, but it is possible to learn some details. So, for instance, the teams of English SAS units are composed of five to seven specially trained members armed only with handguns. They already since 1993 are actively included in the tasks of spying and sharing the confident information for needs of NATO.

ATHENS - The president Of FRY Slobodan Milosevic paid costly the victory of his candidate Milan Milutinovic at the presidential elections in Serbia - agreed to extradite to the Hague Tribunal Serbs indicted for war crimes and to negotiate about Kosovo and Metohija according to the receipt of international community - claims "Elephterotipia". "The victory of Milutinovic enabled the Yugoslavian president to keep all strings of all events in the former Yugoslavia in his hands also in the next period" - comments the Greek news and adds that to everybody, even before coming to elections, was clearly known that the first man of Serbia will not come from rows of ultra-rightists".

HAMBURG - The leading daily news in Germany at the front pages report about visits of U.S. president Bill Clinton and German Chancellor Helmuth Kohl to B&H stressing the announcements of remaining their military forces in B&H "until the peace is strengthened", what, according to the assessments of German commentators can last long series of years. The military analyst and former German minister of Defence Lotar Rill in the introductory of "Welt" writes that "only many years presence of NATO in Republika Srpska /RS/ and Federation B&H can permanently destroy the powers of war", and on the other side at the same place he is concluding that "U.S. by its presence are tieing B&H for itself and through it are incorporating the strategic control of Balkans".

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi news "Alkadisia" accused USA that "they are preparing the aggression against Iraq" and called the countries members of UN Security Council to oppose to that - reports AFP. "America do not stop to reiterate its stance, according to which Iraq do not cooperate with UN teams for control of Iraqi arms. USA are intentionally trying to enhance tensions and are devising the excuses in order to make Security Council condemned Iraq" - warns the news putting this in the "framework of frenzied US attempts in preparations to attack Iraq".

SARAJEVO - The arch-bishop vrhbosanski Vinko Puljic in the speech at the last night's mass in the Sarajevo Cathedral expressed his amazement for the leaflets by which Moslem leadership called Moslem inhabitants not to congratulate and celebrate with them the Christian festivities - Christmas. The leaflets, in which Moslems are called not to participate in the Christian celebration was found in the streets of Sarajevo few hours before mass. In the text on two pages, signed by the known organisation "Young militant Islamists", follow the cites of Islam authors with the attacks on Christian religion.

SARAJEVO - The High international Representative Carlos Westendorp decided to establish new municipal authorities in Zepce, which will not be in accordance of the results of municipal elections, because Moslem and Croatian party could not agree about the division of authority - report independent media in Federation B&H. According to Westendorp's suggestion, Moslem and Croatian representatives should every 14 days replace each other on the posts of head of SO and his deputy and on posts of president and deputy president of Municipal Council.
