NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BEOGRAD - President of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, expressed for Sunday's edition of "Nasa borba" her regret regarding SFOR action in which the Serb Radio-TV (SRT) transmission towers were seized. While assessing that the beginning of the implementation of the Belgrade agreement was successful, she expressed her regret because of the newest SFOR actions "contending the right of the people in RS to follow TV programme consecutively from studio in Pale and studio in Banjaluka."

SARAJEVO - The employees of the SRT studio Srpsko Sarajevo sent, regarding the occupation of the SRT and blockage of the broadcast, a letter to high representative Carlos Westendorp, his deputy Jacques Klein and SFOR commander general Eric Shinsheki, informing them that the SRT employees went on a general strike. The letter said that the SRT journalists in studios in Srpsko Sarajevo and Bijeljina and in the information-technical offices in Belgrade and Trebinje went on strike on October 4, at 10:00 am, protesting the denial of a fundamental right to work and right to information of the public in RS and beyond.

BEOGRAD - A Belgrade publicist and RS senator, Dragos Kalajic, assessed that he was not surprised by violent closing of the electronic skies for the Serbian free word and picture for such a freedom has been taken away long time ago to all peoples under the shadow of the "New York Usurer International". He added that violence against RS media showed that "truth is on the Serbian side", and mentioned that the similar thing has been made to "Russian patriots who fight non-Russian authority".

SARAJEVO - The member of the OSCE Provisional Electoral Commission (PEC), Slobodan Kovac, confirmed that the PEC announced electoral results for additional 18 municipalities in RS, and added that results for the remaining 36 municipalities in RS and the Federation of B-H would be known on Monday, October 6. On October 4, the PEC announced electoral results for Prijedor, Doboj, Novi Grad, Ugljevik, Srpski Kljuc, Srpski Drvar, Petrovo, Loapre, Srpski Petrovac, Cajnice, Samac, Sipovo, Sekovici, Mrkonjic Grad, Srpsko Gorazde, Teslic and Knezevo.

BRCKO - The head of the Public Security Centre (CJB) in Brcko, Mico Simic, stated that the accusations by Brcko supervisor Robert Farrand that the RS police was not successful in providing security for the residents of the bordering city zones in Brcko and freedom of movement as "astonishing and completely unfounded". He emphasised that "the meeting of heads of Brcko CJB police stations, attended by RS interior minister Slavko Paleksic and his deputy Momcilo Mandic and advisor Milenko Karisik, assessed that the security situation in the Brcko area was satisfactory."

CRVENKA - A Serb writer from Temishvar and only representative of Serb minority in the Romanian Parliament, Slavomir Gvozdenovic, called the Serbian people in RS not to destroy by its divisions everything for which so many lives of our brothers and sons were given in a fight for elementary right to survival. "All those Serb divisions and disputes hurt the Serbs in Romania, and due to the latest events in RS they are embittered and disturbed", stated Gvozdenovic, and added that every dispute must be solved through discussion.
