Srpska Republika News Agency (SRNA), 97-09-15Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next ArticleFrom: The Serbian Unity Congress Server at http://www.suc.orgSEPT. 15 1997 DAYNEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKASARAJEVO - According to the first returns made available to SRNA, the Serbian Democratic Party won the elections in the majority of municipalities in Republika Srpska (RS0, while a fair portion of votes are taken also by the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and the Socialist Party (SP) of RS.BRCKO - The SDS won in Brcko 9,242 votes or 55% of 17,789 valid ballots; SRS won 3, 695 votes or about 20 %; while the SP RS got 3,020 or 15 % votes. In the zone of separation, 4,614 voters went to polling stations, out of whom 338 voted on unsealed ballots, while 84 ballots were invalid. The electoral victory among the Muslim constituency for Brcko was made by the Coalition for Unitary and Democratic B-H (SDA, Party for B-H, GDS B-H - Liberals) with 2,202 votes won, together with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) winning 1,962 votes. DOBOJ - After the polling stations were closed and the results summed-up in the Doboj municipality, the preliminary results showed that the majority of voters came for the SDS - 18,797 or 48.74 %. The second ranged is the SRS for RS with 7,797 or 20.8% votes, and the SP for RS is the third best placed party. The other 18 political parties and six independent candidates got total 7,225 or 18.74 % votes. TRNOVO - One hundred per cent of constituency in Trnovo voted for the SDS; 2,037 or 99.41 % eligible voters polled. CAJNICE - The SDS won 51.36 % seats in local offices, SRS won 43.02 %, and 5.07 % belonged to the Coalition for B-H. SRPSKA ILIDZA - The majority vote of 95.22 % out of 9,972 registered voters went to the SDS - 46.30 % - and to the SRS - 40.95%. SRPSKO NOVO SARAJEVO - The SRS won 48% votes, and the SDS 42.8 % votes in Srpsko Novo Sarajevo for municipal bodies. PALE - The SDS won 7,454 or 55.5% votes in the municipality of Pale, while the SRS got 5, 475 or 40.3% votes. SOKOLAC - In the Sokolac municipality the SDS won the majority votes - 4, 824 or 55.76 %; SRS got 2.962 or 34.23% of votes; SP for RS 632 or 7.30%; SPAS got 114 or 1.31 % of votes; National Party got 41 or 0.47 %; the Coalition for B-H got 30 or 0.23% of votes; and Social Democratic Party for B-H got 0.18% of votes. VISEGRAD - The SDS got 5,034 or 47% votes; the SRS is the second ranked party with 4,655 of 44% votes; SPAS got 270 or 25% votes; the Coalition for the United and Democratic B-H got 233, Bosnian Democratic Union 18, and the Bosnian Party 17 votes. PRIJEDOR - The SDS leads in the elections for the municipal bodies with 14, 634 votes, and is followed by the SP for RS with 9,034 votes. The third party is the Serbian Party for the Krajina and Posavina, 7,094 votes, followed by the SRS with 6,371 votes won. SAMAC - The SDS got 6.590 or 60.40% votes; the SP for RS won 1,725 or 15. 81%; and SRS got 1,519 or 13.92 % of votes. UGLJEVIK - The largest number of votes went to the SRS, 48.73%; for SDS 29. 55%; and for SP for RS 18.03 % by 9,062 out of total 10,038 registered voters. LOPARE - In Lopare, 4,165 or 44.5% voters gave their votes for the SDS, and 2,102 or 22.4% for the SRS, while the SP for RS got 1,818 or 19.28% of votes. PRNJAVOR - The majority of votes, 40 % belonged to the SDS, which will from the future City Assembly together with the SP for RS, SRS, Serbian Party of the Krajina and Posavina and Serbian Peasants' Party. TESLIC - In the Teslic municipality the SDS won 8,222 or 36.24% of votes; the SRS took the second place with 6,377 or 28.09% of votes; 5,396 or 23. 77% votes went to the SP for RS; other parties and independent candidates won much fewer ballots. PELAGICEVO - The SDS won the municipal elections in Knezevo, winning 32.07 % of votes; the SP for RS got 18.32% of votes; SPAS got 15.75 % of votes; the SRS is fourth placed party with 6.96 % of votes. MODRICA - In Modrica, 56 % of voting citizens gave their votes for the SDS and 17% for SRS. CELINAC - The SP for RS won 29.95% of votes, SDS 22.71 %, and the National Party for RS got 11.34% of votes. LJUBINJE - The SDS in Ljubinje was given 1,245 or 50.90% of votes from total 2,539 voters; SRS got 634 or 25.92 % of votes, and the SP for RS got 305 or 12.47 of votes. SARAJEVO - According to the first unofficial returns from the Republic Electoral Commission (PEC for RS), the best voters turnout was registered in Trnovo, where out of total 2,049 registered voters, them 2,037 participated at the elections. In Cajnice, out of registered 3,963 registered voters, 3,820 or 96.39% polled, In Samac 11,562 or 95.82% out of 12,067 registered voters went to elections, while in Serb Ilidza out of 9, 972 registered voters 9,495 or 95.22% cast their ballots. BEOGRAD - According to the newest data from the OSCE Office in Belgrade, out of 65,000 registered voters in FR Yugoslavia, about 50% went to the elections. The OSCE Office coordinator in Belgrade, Zivota de Luca, stated that "according to the unofficial returns, about 30,000 people voted in Yugoslavia". "Ballots are still arriving, so the final number of voters is not known yet. Ballots from Nis, Subotica, Kosovo and other places where the polling took place are to arrive", he said. SARAJEVO - The director of the SDS Direction, Vlado Vrkes, stated that the SDS, even though pressed by the international community and despite formation of new political parties, triumphed at the local elections, and added that the SRS improved its position. Vrkes concluded that the parties supporting Biljana Plavsic experienced a catastrophic defeat and that it was obvious that the Serb constituency gave its support to the parties which have honoured the RS Constitution and which maintained the RS Parliament. BRCKO - The elections in Brcko passed without incidents, except from the justified displeasure of regularly registered voters who were dropped from the voters lists, confirmed the acting head of the Public Security Centre in Brcko, Dragomir Marjanovic, and mentioned that such instances of displeasure limited to the peaceful protest. BRCKO - Judging by the preliminary results of the local elections in Brcko, the SP for RS secured a significant participation in the future city assembly, stated Petar Djokic, the president of the Municipal Board of the SP for RS. While saying that it is still too early for more electoral results, Djokic underlined that a new era of political life has been introduced in the area of Brcko. BANJALUKA - The RS president Biljana Plavsic, and the director of the World Bank Mission in B-H, Rory O'Sullivan, signed in Banjaluka an agreement on US $ 50 million loan for the reconstruction of the elementary and secondary education in RS, which includes the reconstruction of school facilities and provision of furniture and equipment. "We will have renewed and up-to-date equipped schools, but, for this time being we do not have salaries for the education staff", stated president Plavsic, and underlined that with the aid, the RS budget would be relieved, which would enable reimbursement for teachers. O'Sullivan stated that after RS president, RS prime minister Gojko Klickvoic should also sign the agreement, ten days after which the funds will be available for the distribution. SARAJEVO - The 23th session of the B-H Presidency, held in Sarajevo concerned only one issue - final appointments of B-H ambassadors, this was announced from the cabinet of the president in the B-H Presidency, Kresimir Zubak. It was concluded that the Muslim and Croat suggestions be reviewed, while a definite ambassadors list, proposed by the president in the B-H Presidency from RS, Momcilo Krajisnik, will be completed for September 19 session. SARAJEVO - The members of the Standing Military Committee held its first meeting in Sarajevo, attended also by the principal deputy high representative, Jacques Klein and SFOR commander general Shinseki. The meeting determined the place and dynamics of next meetings. Expressing his pleasure with reconciled positions, the president in the B-H Presidency from RS, Momcilo Krajisnik, assessed that the Standing Military Committee should coordinate between the two armed forces, in order to find the best compromise in case of any confrontation. While pointing out the importance of the Committee in dealing with contentious military issues, the head of the RS Army General Staff, general Pero Colic, expressed his hope that this institution would prove its purpose in the view of the general situation in B-H. BANJALUKA - OSCE spokesman Johan Ferhajden accused, at a press conference in Banjaluka, the Croat authorities in Drvar of being responsible for impeding the Serbs during the polling in Drvar. He said three Croats beat- up two Serb men and a woman who wanted to vote in this city.
