Srpska Republika News Agency (SRNA), 97-07-28Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next ArticleFrom: The Serbian Unity Congress Server at http://www.suc.orgJULY 28 1997 DAYNEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKABANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic, talked in Banjaluka with the OSCE political director for B-H, Vladimir Kuznyecov, about further implementation of the Dayton agreement. Following the meeting with the RS president, Kuznyecov expressed his hope that the present problems would be solved in the best way possible, wishing the Serbian people much success, prosperity and good cooperation with the international community.BANJALUKA - The RS president, Biljana Plavsic, received the SFOR commander, general William Crouch. The Presidential spokesperson, Milka Tosic, announced general Crouch, who paid a farewell visit to RS President, would be a guest at the Serb TV programme tomorrow or day after tomorrow. BANJALUKA - Sinisa Gataric's golden and Igor Rankovic's bronze medal won at the European Karate Championship in Perugia, together with the high placement of RS karate team is one more confirmation that the Serbian people has always been a part of Europe - said the RS president Biljana Plavsic in her congratulations sent to the RS Karate Association. "In the name of the Serbian people, and personally, I am sending sincere congratulations, because thanks you you only, the Serbian hymn "God Give Justice" was played and our tricolour fluttered last night", reads the congratulation. The RS team took the eight place among 25 European teams, thanks to gold medal in heavy category won by Sinisa Gataric and bronze medal in middle category won by Igor Rankovic. BRCKO - After his visit to US soldiers stationed in Brcko, the special envoy of the US president for human rights, John Shattuck, met the supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand. Presumably, the reason for Shattuck's visit to Brcko is eviction of 6.000 Serb families from houses in Brcko, in which the supervisor intends to move Muslims. BEOGRAD - The Serbs, expelled from the cities in the B-H Federation, will have to leave 6.000 Muslim houses in Brcko, they presently occupy, says the supervisor for Brcko, US diplomat Robert Farrand. He added that all displaced persons would be asked to leave houses in 60 days time, and if they refuse to do so, the local Serb authorities would bear consequences. BRCKO - Leaders of political parties in Brcko made demand to the Provisional Electoral Commission (PEC) and supervisor Robert Farrand, that 3.500 requests by residents, who were deprived from the right to vote by PEC decision, be approved. Warning at a great worry and increase of discontent of the citizens due to suspicions in regularity of the local elections, the presidents of the Serbian Democratic Party Mladen Bosic, Socialist Party Petar Djokic, and Serbian Radical Party Jovo Jeftic, expressed their concern that the Serbs from Brcko might decide to boycott the local elections planned for September. BRCKO - Brcko mayor, Miodrag Pajic, requested the PEC chair, Robert Frowick, to receive the Brcko municipality delegation representing 3.500 citizens. The decision of the Appellation Sub- Commission, leaving 3.500 Serbs, in possession of regular documentation needed for registration for elections, without the right to vote, provokes fear and raise of tensions in this already shaky area. BRCKO - The president of the Local Electoral Commission in Brcko, Teodor Gavric and Brcko mayor Miodrag Pajic sent a letter to the PEC chair, Robert Frowick and supervisor for Brcko Robert Farrand, stating doubt of Brcko residents in the regularity of the up-coming local elections. "The embittered citizens started doubting in the regularity of a complete voters registration activity, in adherence to principles, consistency and well- mindedness of all elements included in this extremely important process. They cannot accept the present situation, given a large number of voters denied their right to vote. They expect understanding from the Provisional Electoral Sub-Commission and other bodies, demonstrated in an increased effort to make their polling at the elections possible", says the letter. DOBOJ - Many international donations for the revitalisation of the RS education system were conditioned upon political issues outside the education sector, assessed the RS education minister, Stevan Stevic. In the latest edition of SFOR's "Glas Napretka", Stevic said that "a complete transition of the education system in RS though internal reforms supported by the international organisations is to take place in the next five years". DVOROVI - Deputy RS foreign minister, Dragoljub Lepoja, assessed as successful the seminar for diplomatic-consular staff - where 90 highly educated candidates take an active part in discussions - which seminar started last week and will be organised until August 15. BANJALUKA - The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) for RS would attend the RS National Assembly session called for August 8, while the SRS future activities and attitude towards the RS constitutional crisis would be taken in conformity with the decision of the RS Constitutional Court, stated the SRS president and the RS National Assembly vice-president Nikola Poplasen. At a press conference, Poplasen said "the SRS has no intention to take sides in the current crisis", and warned that the SRS "is primarily concerned over evil inspirations by some international elements, who openly show that their policy points at the break-up of the unity in RS leadership, and the rift in the leadership of Serbia and Monte Negro". PRIJEDOR - The Socialist Party for RS in Prijedor, started its election campaign, by forming the electoral Staff and making the campaign plan, in a try to win as many deputy seats as possible, announced the Socialist Party Municipal Board at a press conference. HAMBURG - A complete disconformity of views over the Bundesfer participation in the arrest operations against persons indicted for alleged war crimes in RS and Federation of B-H is at hand in the German Coalition Government of the Christian Unity and Liberal-Democratic Party, writes the "Welt am Sontag" weekly. Differences are not substantial, since disbelief is about preparedness of German soldiers to participate in such complex operations. AMSTERDAM - The Jewish Community lodged an official protest with the international organisations implementing the B-H peace accords, for their return to Sarajevo had been obstructed despite a number of promises, reports the BBC weekly review. The attention was directly drew to obstruction by Muslim leadership of refugees return, which the international community is the most insistent upon. LOPARE - The OSCE Appellation Sub-Commission approved only two out of total 84 complaints by Lopare residents, who are disabled to vote at the local elections. The Appellation Sub- Commission was provided with documents on citizenship of 197 eligible voters, but 63 persons will have to additionally prove the identity. SRBINJE - An inspection of voters lists in the Srbinje area found 136 forms contain errors, stated the secretary of the Local Electoral Commission, Miladin Rudinac. He explained that 55 of that number belong to "D" category - i.e. voters identified for polling in places where they lived 1991 - and 81 in category "I", which means voters designated to vote in polling stations which have invalid number. ZVORNIK - Out of 30,615 voters registered for the up-coming September elections in the municipality of Zvornik, errors were discovered in 2,421 registrations - 905 voters no registered at all - and 811 voters in "D" category. /end/Copyright © Srpska Novinska Agencija - SRNA Republika SrpskaFrom the Serbian Unity Congress Server at http://www.suc.orgSrpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next Article |
