JUNE 15 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The World Bank gives a lot of its attention to Republika Srpska (RS) and the projects to be adopted and carried out after a Donors' Conference, stated the chief of the RS presidential cabinet, Milos Prica. After the meeting between RS President Biljana Plavsic and a delegation of the World Bank, Prica stated that the talks were very important because the RS attitudes on the Donors' Conference were presented as well as all the laws which are to be a precondition for the Conference. 'We believe that all of the issues will be solved successfully and on time, and that there will be no difficulties as far as we are concerned, this is also confirmed by President Plavsic during the meeting', stated Prica.

DOBOJ - SFOR will not guarantee the safety to those trying to return violently to Republika Srpska, pointed out the SFOR Nordic-Poland Brigade commander, general Gunnar Lundberg, thus responding to the announcements that Muslims from the Tesany area are to return today to the village of Maklyenovac, near Doboj. 'Any violent and mass return creates problems, provokes human sufferings and will not provide the returnees with a better and more safe future', stated general Lundberg.

DOBOJ - Some 30 Muslims beat up a taxi driver Bogdan Dyordyic on a Doboj- Sarajevo route, near the village of Karusa, in the zone of separation between Republika Srpska (RS) and the Federation of B&H (FB&H), reports the RS Police in Doboj. The incident happened about one hundred metres from SFOR' check point on a bridge over the Usora. This is the only check point left after SFOR had banned the police forces of RS and the FB&H to set up check points.

PRIJEDOR - Due to the Holy Trinity festivity, a Protocol was singed at a session of the Municipal Assembly of Prijedor on economic and sports cooperation with the Athens Municipality of Anne Losi. The Protocol, which was agreed in principle in the Municipality of Anne Losi on June 5th, regulates the economic and sports cooperation, provides the possibility for Greek investments into economic capacities and sports facilities, and facilitates to the businessmen from Prijedor to place their goods not only at the market of the Anne Losi municipality, but also throughout Greece.

MOSTAR - The constituting of the authority in the six municipalities of Mostar, pursuant to the election results of June 20, 1996, was not carried out until last week. But as soon as this was done, the problems in the Muslim-Croat relations emerged, report the media of both sides. The Croats are now requesting for three newly-formed Croatian municipalities to be joined into a community of Croatian municipalities. They claim that this is called for in the Dayton Agreement, but is opposed to by the Muslims.
