NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of the Social-Liberal Party Executive Board, Djordje Latinovic, announced in Banjaluka that this party would run for municipal elections independently. Municipal elections are planned for July 12 and 13.

SARAJEVO - OSCE Regional Centre in Sokolac enlisted members of the seven- member local electoral commission in Novo Sarajevo, which will number 10 members for municipal elections.

BEOGRAD - Over a half of demonstrators who took part in recent two-month protests in Belgrade are ready to demonstrate again in order to achieve their goals - this is a result of a poll conducted by the "Argument" agency, reports Belgrade's press. "22.2 per cent of demonstrators are in favour of continuation of the protests until all demands are met, while every fifth demonstrators thinks that demonstration should not be continued", writes "Nasa Borba".

BEOGRAD - The Democratic Party (DS), announced that taking of the five- pointed star from Belgrade's City Assembly building marks the beginning of a new era in which residents would not be imposed ideology by anyone. In its comment on the reaction of communist parties that the five-pointed star was a symbol of wellbeing, the DS said that the times of division into blocks had gone away and that the socialist ideology represented a prime impediment to RS integration with the modern world.

BEOGRAD - The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) condemned hypocrisy of the US Ambassador to Croatia, Peter Galbright, who contributed a lot to the largest exodus of an European people in the last 50 years, and who is today ostensibly unsatisfied with the security situation and respect of human rights in Croatia". The SRS underlines that the Serbs will not be tricked by western countries, which this time want a political occupation of the Serbian District of Eastern Slavonia, Baranja and Western Srem.

BERLIN - The German IFOR troops will lose their motive for service in the Dayton B-H, if their Government change its taxation system and impose fees on their salaries during this mission, warns the former Bundesver official, Bernard Gec in an interview for the Hamburg paper "Fokus". Bundestag tabled an initiative for the reform of the taxation system, according to which German soldiers serving abroad should pay taxes on their salaries.

ROME - Deputy mayor of Mostar, Safet Ocurevic required the international community to impose state of emergency in the city in order to prevent a crash of the peace process in the Croat- Muslim Federation, reports ANSA. The same source claims Orucevic sharply criticised SFOR and IPTF representatives, because, as he said, "they did not respond adequately to bombing attacks in the city".

SARAJEVO - The UN spokesman, Aleksandar Ivanko, stated in Lukavica that "UN report on events in Mostar is completed" and the term of its issuing will be decided this evening at a meeting in the Office of High Representative in Sarajevo. Deputy high representative, Michael Stainer will be present at the meeting.
