NOV. 26, 1996 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The Presidency of the Dayton B-H will hold its regular session today in Sarajevo to discuss the formation of the Council of Ministers.

SARAJEVO - The vice-premier of the Government of Republika Srpska (RS), Velibor Ostojic, stated that the RS must be given back 236 square kms if the territorial division, agreed to in Dayton, is to be duly observed. "Our measuring showed that RS has 48.8 percents of territory, a half of percent less than it should have, which means that about 236 square kms should be returned to RS", stated Ostojic in an interview for Belgrade's "Blitz".

BANAJLUKA - The RS union supports Gojko Klickovic in his candidacy for prime minister of a new Government, and proposes a collective agreement to be arranged in accordance with the Protocol on cooperation, and the Law on strike brought.

DOBOJ - The Doboj mayor, Drago Ljubicic, sent a letter of protest to IFOR Nordic-Polish Brigade commander, general Ian Bergstrom, because of IFOR's actions supporting Muslim provocations in the RS bordering areas. He pointed out that Doboj residents had never, not by a single act, displayed hostility towards "peace-keeping mission" members in the Dayton B-H.

SARAJEVO - The temporary suspension of the Procedure on return of refugees to zones of separation - enforced after about 1,000 armed Muslims forcible entered the village of Gajevi, near Lopari, in RS - is lifted. The high representative's spokesman Colum Murphy stated that the special commission dealing with the return of refugees would resume its work.

BEOGRAD - The Serbian National Renewal (SNO) announced - in its press release, signed by the Party's president Mirko Jovic - its November 23 decision to join the Serbian Democratic Party for Serbian Lands (SDS SZ).

BEOGRAD - Students of the Belgrade University stopped their work in all faculties, demanding the protection of the constitutional right regarding the decision annulling the local elections, which, in their proclamation, is said to be an "attack on the basic principles of democratic arrangement". In the proclamation, they asked that president of the Belgrade University, Dragutin Velickovic, come out about the students' protest and that Slobodan Milosevic address to the nation, as a matter of urgency.

BEOGRAD - The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) called all opposition parties to give up on their mandates won at the federal and municipal elections. "In the situation the country is presently faced with, it is pointless to run for the third round of the elections for local offices. The DSS believes the issue is the outcome of the elections in a whole, but even more the nature of system of rule in Serbia", says the announcement.

BELGRADE - A part of the Steering Board of the Lawyers Chamber of Serbia protested "threats to civic trust in justice and jurisdiction".

NOVI SAD - The spokesman of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), Slobodan Zivkucin, stated for SRNA that the future mayor of Novi Sad will be a SPO member, since this party, as a member of the Coalition "Together", won 22 of 39 seats in the City Assembly.

ATHENS - As the protests of the political opposition in Belgrade are growing persistent, the position of international elements towards the undemocratic behaviour of Serbia's president Slobodan Milosevic and the ruling Socialist Party are getting tighter, according to Greek media.

BRUSSELS - The World Congress of the Serbs issued a communique regarding the annulment of the local elections in Yugoslavia, assessing that the Serb Diaspora is deprived from any freedom of election, as was during the communist regime.

AMSTERDAM - The largest portion of charges against Dusan Tadic, indicted for alleged war crimes, were dropped, but the prosecutor decided to go on with charging him for crimes which are still not proved.
