BANJALUKA - The vicepresident of Republika Srpska (RS) and acting president of the Republic, Biljana Plavsic, met in Banja luka with the UN special rapporteur on human rights in former Yugoslavia. Elizabeth Rehn, to discuss the problems of the missing and imprisoned persons and the upcoming elections. Following her meeting, Ms. Plavsic stated that the issue of imprisoned and missing persons blocks the implementation of the Dayton agreement, "for a large number of residents has no inter est in anything, but in the searching for their missing rela tives".

BANJALUKA - The RS prime minister Gojko Klickovic talked in Banjaluka with the RS Army (VRS) First Krajina Corps commander general Momir Talic on the current problems concerning the mili tary in RS. According to Klickovic, the RS Government is commit ted to improve the status of soldiers and to continue reorganisa tion of the VRS.

SARAJEVO - The RS foreign minister and the acting president of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) Aleksa Buha, denied claims on an unequal treatment by the Serb media of the political par ties to participate at September elections. "The length of time and timetable for the presentation of candidates in the Serb media are equal for all and in that respect there is no place for any objection", stated minister Buha for Radio BBC.

BANJALUKA - The RS arbitrator for the area of Brcko, Dr. Vitomir Popovic, stated that the RS is exposed to strong pres sures aimed at declaring the city itself to be the subject of dispute, but not the boundary line. "The pressures are coming from the most influential circles in the international community and Yugoslavia, although the dispute and the arbitrage itself are concerning only the interentity boundary line separating RS from the CroatMuslim Federation", stated Dr. Popovic.
