SRNA REVIEW OF EVENING NEWS, April 8, 1996

Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory

From: Mirjana Petrovic <[email protected]>

ZVORNIK - The president of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (RS), Momcilo Krajisnik, favours elections in the RS in order to respect democratic principles and to determine the will of the people. "We fought for a state, liberty and democracy, and now the moment has came for the people test them selves and choose their representatives", assessed Krajisnik in an interview for "Glas Srpski". He stated that it is very impor tant that all political parties participate in the elections and agree about the minimum national interests so as to reach a national consensus.

HAMBURG - Oneyear presence of the international military and civilian personnel in the Former B-H will not be enough guarantee to longlasting peace in the region, assesses the conservative German paper "Welt". While referring to a "pessimist analyse" of the influential German Institute for Foreign Policy, "Welt" predicts, that "in the most favourable variant, for Former B - H will become another Cyprus, or, in worst case scenario, the Dayton agreement will fail and enmities will resume.

LONDON - A member of London Joint Armed Forces Institute, Jonathan Ile, warned in a statement for "Independent" that in stead of strengthening their alliance with the Croats, the arming of the bosnian Muslims will reduce chances that stable peace comes to life in the Former B-H. "The Muslims get stronger, the Croats want to crash them", concluded Ile, assessing a claim of the USA that "the Government in Sarajevo will get enough arms for defence, but still not too much, lest to provoke new clashes", as nonsense.
