Ion Iliescu, whose statement was broadcast live by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI said the following, among others:" For the second ballot my message is the following - I aim to structurally change the policy of the country, in the interest of the country, in the interest of the people, in the interest of our society, by building and building up three major coordinates and namely- democracy and the state, the authority of our state, combatting corruption and antisocial phenomena, the relaunching of national economy - industry, agriculture, the private sector, attraction of foreign investors, ensurance of stable economic growth which allows for social policy, namely that of erradicating extreme poverty in the beginning and then poverty in general. We are particularly interested, as part of our general policy structure, to integrate our country in the Euro - Atlantic organizations. "

Corneliu Vadim Tudor, also in a live broadcast of RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI: " This is the most beautiful present which the Romanians made to me as I will be 51 on 28 November. We are too poor to celebrate properly, everybody is poor in this country and there is no time for celebrations. Actually I work all the time for the magazines which I am editing, as this is my only source of income. I welcome the opportunity to have the televized dialogues with Mr. Ion Iliescu as I intend to point out to him the catastrophic results of his previous offices during seven years and the mafia which he protected. If he does not withdraw before the second ballot I will have to KO him for good. "
