Executive Summary of Study of the Athens Stock Exchange

HRI is sponsoring a project on the Athens Stock Exchange. The objective of this project is to explain how stock prices move in the Athens Stock Exchange based on econometric estimations, and to determine the efficiency of the existing institutional structure, as well as to propose some crucial innovations that could make the capital markets in Greece work more efficiently.

The project includes tasks such as creation of data files, estimation of econometric models (CAPM, APT), correlation of stock prices in Greece with stock prices in other capital markets, institutional analysis of Greek capital markets and comparison with other institutional structures based on a functional approach. Policy implications concerning financial innovation and the new institutional structure of the world capital markets are also being examined.
