Executive Summary of Resume Book
Each year thousands of Greek students study abroad, many of them pursuing advanced degrees in some of the most prestigious universities in the world. The connection of that highly-skilled group with the job market in Greece is currently very weak. Graduating students studying abroad usually have no information on potentially attractive employment opportunities available in Greece. Conversely, Greek businesses often have difficulty finding people with the right skills. As Greece is trying to improve its economic performance and compete dynamically in the European Union, it is a sad fact that many Greek students decide to remain abroad, while many Greek businesses do not have access to that extremely valuable pool of individuals.
In its continuing effort to build bridges between Greece and the Hellenic Resources living abroad, the HRI plans to initiate a project of publishing a Greek Student Resume Book. The Resume Book will be updated annually and will be made available to businesses, research organizations and other interested parties in Greece. Initially available in printed format, we are planning to eventually offer an on-line computerized Resume Service, which will allow users to retrieve resumes that match their desired set of qualifications.
