TWENTY-SIXTH ORDINARY SESSION
RESOLUTION 574 (1974)1
on the situation in Cyprus

The Assembly,

  1. Having regard to its Resolution 573 of 29 July 1974 on the situation in Cyprus;
  2. Regretting the failure, on 14 August 1974, of the negotiations in which the Foreign Ministers of Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom, as well as the leaders of the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities, took part in Geneva;
  3. Noting with satisfaction that direct talks were resumed on 6 September 1974 between the leaders of the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities and have produced encouraging results;
  4. Expresses the hope that the states which are the guarantors of the Zurich and London Agreements will facilitate the conduct of these intercommunity negotiations, so that they result in preliminary agreement for a future political settlement for Cyprus.
